Besides ZPZ - do any of you attend Project / Object, Pojama People or Ugly Radio Rebellion shows?

What are your thoughts?

I saw Pojama People w/ Ike Willis in a small bar. It was alot of fun and pretty strong performance considering they were playing for 30 people or so.

I saw Led Zeppelin once. Worst Zappa cover band ever. The only Zappa song they played was Stairway To Heaven...

:P

I've only seen The Grande Mothers live. Apparently P/O won't play in Canada because Ike has border troubles. Anyways, the first time I saw The Grande Mothers was nearly two years ago and the second time will be in under two weeks...

Those talentless hacks didn't even have the guts to use a horn section!

My favorite Ballpark Frank band is P------ O-----. Name withheld to protect the innocent.

I wish I would have met JCB before he passed. I met Don, Ike, Ray, & Ed Mann which makes me pretty darn happy!

Although zpz has a huge budget, p/o is just as good and a lot cheaper!

Well I'm talking bout URR, they don't use a keyboardist and have a lot less members. ZPZ and P/O have a full band, and they sound a lot tighter.

Why do you think Ike is a drunk? I've seen him about 5 times now, and I've never seen him drinking more than a couple beers, and his performance is excellent.

Thanks DB just a wild shot.I wonder why they don't play the SF Bay Area? Is it ZFT? & are you seeing them in Canada or the US? While I'm at it. How about a setlist after the show? But most of all have a great time! Music is the Best! 8)

I'm not 100% sure. But maybe it's because promoters haven't made them a decent offer yet since other FZ tribute bands don't do that well there? And gas is expensive these days...which is why P/O don't tour the West Coast anymore. Though, the San Fran/Oakland area is a solid market for the music of FZ.

I'll be seeing The Grande Mothers in Vancouver at a 350 capacity club called the Biltmore Cabaret with my friend, an FZ newbie, on March 4.

Wowie Zowie DB,thats my kinda show!
I remember The old Biltmore from the 70's.It was in a hotel bar, dinky lounge, type affair,a funky dive. Now the whole Van,BC skyline looks different eh? Thanks for the info.

I'm 90min.from SF,and read the sunday SF Chronical and don't recognize any Zappa playin' bands. I see some other Mothers now and then that have gone on to play their own music. But no Zappa?
.
All you SF,CA bay area,Zappa loving folks, let us know if a band plays, some, all.or a little bit of Zappa sounding music.Please.
While I'm at it,it's been a while since DZpZ has toured. I check out dates everyday. How`bout ya'll?

Yeah, near the corner of 12th & Kingsway.

And yes, the skyline looks very different with all the relatively new skyscrapers...

I've only caught the Vancouver shows ('06, '07 & '09). Though, I probably should've gone to the Victoria show last year...

Oh, no. Not at all.

But if Frank were still alive and touring, I'd be traveling EVERYWHERE I possibly could to see him...
