Will The Groupie Routine involve *SPAM*?

Edit: Haha. A popular hardening agent.

No, they were properly announced and people bought tickets being told that Flo and Eddie would appear (with Ahmet). Then cancellation, and silence. Total silence.

Please elaborate "properly announced". Was it on zappa.com, the forum, the tickets...?

It was announced by every ticket vendor. Also on the forum, and also on zappa.com itself.

If this actually happens, I would have to drag my ass to all of the New England shows that tour.
I love the Flo and Eddie era.
That would so totally rock.

Doesn't mean anything in the world of ZPZ.

Hopefully it means Dweezil is waking up and realizing that he has no need for former members of Frank's various bands. He wants to attract new people to the music of Frank. Rehashing tiresome routines and stuff that is so dated that the people who perform it can only make a living doing nostalgia tours is not the way to go.

"A mountain is something you don't want to fuck with, you don't want to fuck with, don't fuck around" :-)

I'm all for zpz bringing any of Frank's ol' gang back with him. Flo and Eddie would be great, especially to allow him to truly explore that era. Always thought, bozzio, vai, etc, adds that little bit of real Zappa mojo that sometimes seems missing when Dweezil plays his dad's tunes.

In other Baltimore news, Dweezil publicly confirmed that ZPZ will indeed be working with Howard and Mark next year. The question was asked at the Q&A with the family. (Which was very cool, I might add.)

It's near the end of the end.

Last time I saw ZPZ I had the soundcheck pass and Dweezil mentioned this may be happening and quite possibly could be a commemoration of the Filmore east 40th anniversary. He referred to them as Howard and Mark and Ben looked puzzled. He turned to Joe and said (I was pretty close so I heard this), is that Flo and Eddie?!?!

It's great news, I'd love to see them live!

I'm really hoping they come somewhere close. Kansas City, maybe. I can't depend on them to come to my weak ass market again.

Go west young man! To California! Where movie stars can be governor and there is a ZPZ concert on every corner. :)

Since Just Another Band From LA & Fillmore East - June '71 were both Gold albums in Australia, I could see Flo & Eddie playing with ZPZ there next year as well...

Well I'll go there then. Uncle Bernie and I will down some real beer and give the Sheilas more than they bargained for. Er, I mean, see interesting sights.

I'd have to. Besides, I'm not opposed to ever drinking, I just don't.

Can Mark Volman even sing anymore? He was on Jimmy Pardo's podcast last year, and his speaking voice was really shaky. It actually made me wonder if he'd had a stroke or something.

I never liked those guys much. Important nontheless but just not my favorite era. The music behind them was always kick ass though.
