Looks like Flo & Eddie are pretty booked up with their own tour. I doubt it they will be on many, if any, of the ZPZ dates. Looking forward to the show in Detroit regardless.

There's a Chicago RTF/ZPZ date on Aug. 20 at the Congress Theater, but the venue's calendar has Queensryche playing that night. What the...... ?

Hmmmm. Could be some interesting Ives inspired music going on that night.

RTF4 and ZPZ are playing the Chicago Theater, not the Congress.

I'm just really hoping the Denver venue is wrong. I'd love to see this show at Red Rocks. But I'm afraid this pairing isn't big enough for a 9500 seat venue.

Dates in blue are with Return to Forever. The green dates are probably with Flo & Eddie.

The dates were listed, now it's been deleted. I don't think the ticket companies/promoters like it when bands list their dates before they're officially announced. Anyway Buffalo had an 8/8 date listed on the above link for UB Center For The Arts, likely opening for RTF. Nothing on ticketmaster yet, except Turning Stone in Verona, and I'm not driving that far and paying top dollar to see ZPZ at a freaking casino. If they play UB w/ RTF, I'll probably go and bitch about the price. The RTF rehearsal vid looks good though. I'd prefer if they play new music, and not rehash old material. Gambale's a great guitarist. Have seen him a few times years ago w/ Vital Information.

I posted earlier how it's a mistake to play with RTF. IMO they're not gaining new fans with them, but playing for the over 40 fusion crowd. I'd personally love to see ZPZ tour with a current group like for example Man Man where their younger fans who might not be that familiar w/ FZ music would be turned on. That's always been DZ's goal, hasn't it?
As far as Buffalo, I don't think ZPZ could headline UB CFA on their own now, like they did in '06 w/ Vai & Bozzio on board. I'd be just as happy if they just did some off nights of the RTF tour on their own and played Niagara Falls' Rapids Theater, or Buffalo's Town Ballroom again on their own.

I noticed there is a band playing at the Telluride Blues Festival with ZPZ called Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band. Wonder if the name is Zappa inspired at all. I was looking at their photo gallery on their website where somebody was playing the bongos and the caption was "Bongo Fury!"

these dates have a lot of wrong info on them. That's why they were taken down. For example, there is no Albany play. Easton is on the Saturday and we are doing State College, PA on Sunday.

Please dont use this as a guide.

Dweezil has been hinting about shows with Flo & Eddie in 2011 since last Fall. Now we learn there is ONE east coast show. Does anybody besides me feel a little bit misled.

yeah, and if you look at flo and eddie's tour dates, it's hard to find time where they'll even play together again this year. but you never know

that's why i'm going, bc i don't know if it'll happen again

Sometimes in negotiations things are going well and you are close to a deal, out of shear excitement people start letting things slip out before the deal is done, then the deal falls throw...this stuff happens all the time.

Hi,

I personally do not think that this is a good mix.

RTF is favored by many folks that are jazz fashion-istas and in my book, while there are many pieces in RTF that I can enjoy, I personally find the music too "mental" in my book to be able to enjoy it. I don't think they are capable of "letting go" and improvise without having to think about music or some element in music ... like this ... we will improvise on EMaj69 and return on FMin32 ... and some other bizarre stuff.

Somewhere along the way, you have to let go the lessons and the lecture and the music and just fly away ... and I have not felt that RTF was that good a "flyer" for me. I mean, you can put on Mystery Roach and I'm gone ... that's how fast I can fly away on a lot of Frank's stuff ... and I have found that RTF is simply ... too much cologne, hair mousse, perfume, some high heels, some fancy car ... I'm fine with my VW bus and my girl! Can't live a hippie forever, but I can enjoy the beauty ... and the stars ... and some love!

Sorry ... RTF is not for me and if they matched up I wouldn't go. I would rather see a small podunk band try hard to help them, than some famous one have an audience with split attentions and be turned off because of the language or whatever else. Besides, RTF, for me is just the type of group that Frank probably loved to trash more than anything else ... because he could do it better!
