This is the stadium the concert was held in:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WACA_Ground
Did FZ play in such huge venues? In front of 24.500 people?... Strange to think of it - hearing the clear sound of the recording, to me it "hears" like a smaller, more intimate place...
Promoters sometimes booked FZ into stadium-sized venues, despite the fact he could never fill them (the '82 Italian & Sicilian gigs, for example). And no, he definitely didn't play to that many people in Perth. The attendance for this show would've been about 1/4 of the capacity of that particular venue. In fact, near the beginning of the recording, entitled, "Public Service Announcement" (between the 16-18 minute mark), FZ explains that there weren't appropriately sized indoor venues at the time to play in but that the City Council/Parliament that were in attendance were considering opening one so more events could be booked in Perth. This was odd because the Perth Entertainment Centre (8,000+) had apparently already opened in 1974 (now demolished) and would've suited FZ's draw in Perth comfortably...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwCy9wYP-KY
