One of the most popular jokes of the the new millennium is "if you read it on the internet it must be true". While I have not spoken to Joe about this project I expect covead's post here is "Beyond A Sea Of Lies" that at times has a tendency to occupy far too much internet space. He is quoting a Kurt Morgan post so that only adds a bit more validity. Nice reporting covead.

And if anyone is looking for a little Conceptual Continuity, Jonathan Sindleman recorded with the Alan White Band, where one of their songs is titled A Sea Of Lies. Hmmm. If you want some more, here's some more, yet more conceptual continuity. Ya gotta be a Crazy Believer to dig deep into conceptual continuity and it is there where one can hear a bit more of Jonathan's keyboard work. How simply put that two of Jonathan's works already fits into the realm of conceptual continuity.

Jonathan has worked with many modern 20th century composers. As a part of Yogurt performing Zappa music? That seems a very good fit. As Covad said , this just might work!

So, basically, replace the dead weight with a keyboard player.

Special quest possibilities?:

Chris Norton
Ben Thomas
James Santiago
Mike Keneally
Ruth Underwood
Ahmet or Moon Zappa
A lot of cool musicians visit and/or play this very small, living room sized venue.

Sounds like it would be a great band to see! Not close enough to NorCal for me. $20 to get in is a bargain too. I sure would like to make it down, but can't :(

Jesus, if I had been drinking my tea when I read that a firehose would have been required to clean up. That's a wicked joke Cal.

The Yogurt show was amazing! I walked into the sold out Baked Potato(they allow about 25 SRO entries after the 70 seats are gone) and found the last bar stool available. The bar was off to the side, and not very well lit. Photos are gonna be tough, I thought, especially with my Canon power shot from the stone-age.

The band was super tight, as you'd expect. Joe Travers mentioned that they only did three rehearsals for this event. Jonathan Sindelman played great keyboards in the George Duke style. The setlist was focused on the mid - late 70's. During the talking portion each member paid their respect and love of FZ music. It was very moving, especially Jamie Kime, who got a little emotional during his turn. When Gail finally spoke at the very end of the set, she basically thanked all band members and fans for their support. I sure hope it got recorded by the house. The owner also had his turn and spoke about the history of the Baked Potato(his father passed the ownership onto him). He said musicians from FZ's bands were regular players here.

It was a wonderful celebration of Frank Zappa's music. I wish I could have stayed for the 2nd show, to see and hear it all again.(Jamie said the list would be the same) It was tough to leave.

2/19/2015 first set

1. Phyniox take two(from Joe's Camouflage) segue
2. Marqueson's Chicken
3. Dog Meat segue
4. RDNZL (JT before DM - "these two will be the most challenging of the night")
5. Village Of The Sun(1978 arrangement w/ Pete Griffin on bass. Scheila vocal)
6. Lonely Little Girl(J.Sindelman vocal.) segue
7. Big Swifty(a nice long version)
8. Band Members talk
9. Farther O'Blivion(the longest # of the night @ 15+ min.)
10. GZ speaks.

approx. 80 min.

In the crowd - Gail & Diva Zappa, Ruth Underwood, James Santiago(I love you Scheila!), Beverly D'Angelo and next to me in the SRO area was the mighty Thomas Nordegg.

^Thanks Pat. That would be nice.

I should have asked Scheila if her creamy yogurt doll had a name.

^The house requested no recordings of any kind, please. Non-flash photos were welcomed, though. I saw zero cell phones up until the very end when Gail talked. I do know the house has tiny video cams up in the corners of the ceiling. We'll see.

That would've been an awesome show to see! I'm glad that Village got the 1978 treatment. When I first heard that version on the Poughkeepsie show, I was amazed. Ike's vocal and Artie's bass w/ replicated licks and all. Plus the extended outro guitar solo is killer.

Would love for this project to evolve. The Strawberry Grade A Net WT Heavy selection of arrangements seemed like a fine beginning. Here's hoping to a wide variety of flavors with CDs and DVDs of for the less fortunate parts of the world.
