OK, so they’re not new. At least you haven’t seen them yet! These are pictures from a 1982 concert and a 1988 concert my brother and I took. You start at this page:
http://www.syntheory.com/policult/conce ... index.html

Any and all comments are welcome. The 1982 pictures were taken up close, but with a crummy 110 instamatic camera. The 1988 pictures were taken from further away, but with a good quality 35mm camera. Enjoy!

NICE!! Totally fucking awesome shot of FZ playing the Mini-Strat with Thomas Nordegg filming. I shit my parts everytime I see him filming cause I know he filmed pretty much every show in 1982. I WANNA SEE IT ALL!!!

The 1982 pictures were taken on Wednesday June 9th at the Stadthalle in Bremen, Germany. The show was postponed from the 7th for some reason. The 1988 pictures were shot on Sunday March 20th at FDU in Hackensack, New Jersey, USA. You can go to this page, http://www.syntheory.com/policult/concerts/index.html and see the ticket stubs. Both shows were incredible.

Looks to me like a Fender 12-string Jazzmaster.

Thanks for all your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed them since I am quite proud of having shot the 1982 pictures myself. My brother shot the 1988 ones.

Here's my favorite 1982 picture:
Image

It's my favorite because of what was happening; not because it's all that great a shot. FZ was forcing Vai to bow up and down while Vai was running up and down the fretboard. It was hilarious!

Ah, I miss Frank.

Hi! I recently switched over to a new server and everything isn't working just right yet.

If you go to http://www.syntheory.com/policult/conce ... index.html and try clicking on the links for 1982 or 1988, you get a page not found message! However, if you right click them and select open in new window, it works just fine.

You can also go directly to the photos via these links:
http://www.syntheory.com/policult/conce ... 1982a.html
http://www.syntheory.com/policult/conce ... 1988a.html
Then just change the "a" to a "b" and see the second pages.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

EDIT: As of 6/3/07, everything's working fine again.

Forget the quality of the camera (its fine by the way) it is a magnificent angle and composition, this reminds me of a Bruegel painting.

I'm sure FZ had the Fender XII (known as the Fender Hockey Stick) during the '60s. There are some photo's of him in the studio - FZ wearing a striped shirt with headphones.

The 12 String Hagstrom as seen in the Orange Mystery CD book is not a Fender, or a jazzmaster. I believe FZ never owned this guitar - a 12 Hagstrom was auctioned as ex-Zappa in 1995 at Bonhams.

that is a jazzmaster in the first pick, but not 12 string, and the bottom pick is a 12 string, just not a jazzmaster
