saw an interesting local trio last night called dirty wink. they played tight odd time signatures w sweet vocals . i was blown away, they were really good with a very raw live sound.

I know...why doesn't tweedle-dee teach polydigm the meanings of the words, "capital" and "Capitalism", while polydigm teaches tweedle-dee to subdue his armchair-psycho-babble rants, ultimately leaving Galoot alone so he can order a pizza and enjoy the show?

In a similar vein, Dave Stewart in the early 70s makes Keith Emerson in the early 70s seem like a crass show-off!

Listen to "Enneagram" on this album and behold: prog power trio rock at its finest with Stewart and bassist Mont Campbell maximising what you can do with just Hammond (plus electric piano) and electric bass. Drummer Clive Brooks is solidly in the odd-time pocket, but also quite a powerhouse. (EDIT: should be noted that the 2nd guy on the left is the band's roadie, not a fourth instrumentalist)

P.S. Mont Campbell has cited Frank Zappa as one of his early influences. And here's Dave Stewart's comment, take it away Dave:

Quote:
Zappa was a great composer and was an influence on me and my colleagues; if he's somewhat overlooked nowadays it's probably because he did so many different things and was therefore hard to pigeonhole.

Couldn't agree more.
