That sounds like a good idea. But as for me, I think what I am going to do once everything is all settled down is make a trip downtown to Buddy Guy's Legends, hopefully when the man is there. Neil would have just loved to have been able to get to Chicago to go to the blues clubs there and the music festivals. 8) He said once that he would spend every night at Legends if he came to Chicago.

That sounds great sabbs, I sure wish I could join you. If I have a job sorted by then, I may just do so provided you were agreeable, of course.

Unfortunatly, Legends is closing it's doors in May. The property owners did'nt renew the lease because of some pending developement project. I'm sure it will reopen somewhere else. Theres still Kingston Mines and Blues Ect though. Best time to go there is during the Chicago Blues Fest which usually runs late May or early June.

I just played at Kingston Mines with Larry McCray for two nights a couple weeks ago and thats a fun club.

I just wanted to say that although I arrived a little late last night I had a nice time seeing alot of the old gang on yahoo for the reunion for Neil. There were some people who I have not talked to in so long and it was great to see that they are doing well.
Although it was very bittersweet it was a good chance for us all to get together and relive some of our own memories of Neil. The instant messenger archives that were all posted were a highlight for me as it was almost like Neil was there and talking to us in his usual manner. Neil was a funny guy and alot of those messages showed that he had a great sense of humor.
Thank You to all who were there last night because it really helped me out with the pain I've been dealing with and I'm sure it had the same effect for you all too. The one thing we can all do to honor Neil is keep that group going and keep in touch through it. I think Neil would want that...

Yes, that was very special to me too BC. We toasted him and got silly and there were so many people on the voice chat that it was getting confusing. I'm only sorry that a couple of people were missing - dove grey and mom, but they had other commitments and it was a very spontaneous thing. I was very glad to share a bit of my message archive of talks with Neil with everyone. mom said to me that there is a jewish custom of talking about someone who has gone for 10 days after the burial. I like that custom and I hope we can keep this thread going for that time.

If not Legends then some other club in chicago! Neil will then have been so remembered and sent on so well that I am sure he will be pleased and happy. 8)

There's something a little unsettling now about coming across Neil/Stuie's posts. It reminds me of having replied to him and sometimes makes me want to comment on something he said but there's no one there to receive it.

But time spent talking about "Stuie" is time not wasted on "Trendmonger"!

I agree with you both, BC and Sabs. I only popped in before I went to bed, to see if there was anyone around and there you all were. So nice to speak to everyone, and as already mentioned, although bittersweet, I had fun recalling past chats with Neil and the laughs we had. I concur....we should keep talking about him, because it does help tremendously.

I looked on Legends website and it looks like they have a full calendar up. I will call them sometime to see what the story is. Otherwise I will try to find another club. Thanks for the info Spacebrother. This may not happen for a while. Things have to be settled in Montreal. Maybe they will be in a new location by then.

I'm at a loss for words. Having just found out about Stewie. I remember joining the old forum he was one of those who made you feel welcomed. Our Canadian Brother will be greatly missed.

Yes he did love Stewie and Simpsons (I remember he had a Bart figurine at his place) and Trailer Park boys and other off the wall Canadian humour. We watched a few episodes of Yam Roll while I was there, Rick Mercer, Canadian Air Farce, 22 Minutes, Little Mosque on the Prairie, and of course, inevitably.........HOCKEY!! (any sport with a puck gotta be bout the best). He tried to educate me on hockey, but we didn't get very far. we had a couple of chats about it though.
