Free speech doesn't have to be respectable or smart. Just because I'm defending his right to say it doesn't mean I agree with him or think it's respectable or smart. You can't just limit free speech to what you personally think is ok to say and sanitizing so not to offend. If someone says something racist (hypothetically) then so what? At least now you know that person is an idiot. Since when was offending people a bad thing? Like I said, unless it is persuading violence then it is a first amendment issue.
