I know Frank didn't listen to much current 'pop' music when he was alive, but who do you think he'd like (or respect) today?

Radiohead?

I don't know, but then again I'm of the opinion that music form the current era is 90% and 10% unheard stuff that's probably good.

"lets speculate on what music frank zappa would currently like if he was still alive!"

Well, the temptation is to say he'd like what I like now, which isn't a whole lot. I think the most creative modern-yet-Zappa-influenced songwriter I know of today is Matthew Friedberger, leader of the duo Fiery Furnaces. He also has a double CD solo album out which is fantastic. He seems to treat melody in a similar way to the way Zappa did - always prominent, often very percussive (like the Residents as well as FZ), and the scalar modes seem to be somewhat Zappa-like. but it's still "pop" music, or "underground pop" if you will.

LOL! Wow, I must've been tired when I posted that, sorry Lumpy.

If there was no stupid speculation this forum would hardly be wroth visiting. A forum is there for people to talk to eachother, if people want to speculate, then they can. Of course I'm not expecting someone whose contact with real people outside the forum = their mother and maybe, just maybe, one other confrontational moron to argue with, to understand the principles of conversation

I'm thinking Radiohead are little too serious. Without much going on.

There's not much of a point to these threads, just because you let your own views cloud too much, but I expect he'd enjoy

Zorn
Rheostatics
Madlib
Messhuga (Umm...I can't spell today.)

but I really can't say.

Of course there's no point to this thread, that's why it's in a fantasy forum.

This is no less pointless than Wish List, Random Quote, what Did You Eat Today or Will ZPZ Please Play My Town.

mmm...radiohead is a little bore, without humor sense.
Maybe Mr.Bungle, faith no more, and Zorn.
