But they're back. Ah... the days when they were taboo... I miss those days.

They're saying that these fires were actually started by arsonists? Man, someone needs their nuts ripped off...just for a start.

Sadly a Canberra fireman (husband, and father of 3) is the latest fatality - (the night before last) a burnt-out tree fell on him. He had volunteered to go, and was due to come home the next day.
The cops have the arsonist under lock and key...apparently he filed an insurance claim the day after the first blaze, and was still lighting up as recently as last thursday evening.
Five separate fires are still burning out of control in Victoria, but the last ten days have been mostly cool (temps. in the low and mid 20's, as opposed to mid 40's), with some rain. Instant autumn.

Go Away...journalist Miranda Devine:
"If politicians are intent on whipping up a lynch mob to divert attention from their own culpability, it is not arsonists who should be hanging from lamp-posts but greenies. — The Sydney Morning Herald, 12th February, 2009"
ABC television said about her:
"Ms Devine had already divined, with absolute certainty, the true culprits for the most lethal bushfires in Australia's history. That's not opinion-writing Miranda, that's hate mongering."

How right you are. I remember a holiday in France with my favourite Aunt, who displayed a regrettable taste for Abba. One evening I said I had enough of listening to their merry melodies and declared I was going off for a walk. The sound of Fernando echoed around the entire hamlet - there was no place to hide. I'm sure that's what the ultimate circle in hell must be like that all those TV preachers are promising us.

I've asked my teenage friend (she's in high school, so she knows this stuff) for more examples
this one seems to be very popular:

That sounds too much like Anti-freeze.

That was funny, Stuff. I busted out laughing.

Yeah, I have too many moments entirely without spurs. And spurs that never coordinate with appropriate moments. And moments spurred that I wish to have gone away. For the most part I can deal with em, but then someone doesn't hear ya when you ask for no mayo and it all goes to shit, or rather, doesn't.
