I think that the drums and bass are very well done but I don't like that it is done.

yes it sucks but I want to at least applaud Chad & Scott for playing some great parts!

The bass overwhelms everything else in the remix.

Yes it does, a valid criticism! However, it's better than anything else in the mix so I accept it! hahah

I am quite fond of the '84 remixes of WOIIFTM & LG. I don't dislike the remix Rueben but would gladly welcome the original mixes on a rerelease in addition.

I prefer the original versions of both Money and Cruising..especially cruising is ruined for me, since the basic idea (nostalgia for the 50's) is lost.

I was disappointed when it came out, but am quite pleased that it exists now that the original mix is also available; you can't have enough versions of We're Only It For The Money.

I realise your comment was made back a ways in the annals of time, but I felt compelled to ask if you had tried graphic equalisation?

The 80s remix is actually the first version of Money I heard, and I still loved it. It was a shock hearing the original mix years later. I pretty much never listen to the 80s version anymore, but I'm glad to know I have it.

Count me in as a bastard, although I have to dispute that liking something that FZ himself put together, that offends the sensibilities of some people (this is FZ we're talking about), should actually classify you as a bastard. The 80's Lumpy Gravy is bloody awesome. It was a huge bonus for me when my Lumpy Money arrived, totally unexpected.

Shove that in your bastard and twiddle it.

Yes, Lumpy Money is a fucking lightning storm of awesomeness. I can't imagine how ANY of the making ofs are going to be able to compare to this. (I don't have Greasy Love Songs yet, so no opinion there). MOFO was a bit boring for me, probably would have been better for myself to go for the two disc version, as I've only listend through a couple of times, but Lumpy Money. WOW. How Did That Get In There alone is worth the price. I am still in awe of that thing. Imagine if he'd released that in 67? I think he would have been regarded in a far more serious light by the jazz and classical world of serious music had that been released, instead of chopped to bits and filtered through dialogue.

It's a jam, that's all.

HDTGIT is great, and far from a loose jam (as Calvin believes). You could rather compare it to something like Sketches of Spain, or even Ascension by Coltrane. Just like those pieces, HDTGIT is a mixture of composed and improvised elements, played beautifully by a big band.

So yeah, I agree with you, FOWL - this piece would have made some impact in the jazz world if it had been released at the time of recording.

And of course Lumpy Money is fantastic!

The thing about How Did That Get In Here? is that now Hot Rats and the Grand Wazoo era aren't so out of left field.

The best thing that I can say about the 1984 remix of Money is that Bow Tie Daddy sounds pretty good with the overdubs. The Chrome Plated Megaphone of Destiny on there sounds really good also. And CPMD isn't overdubbed, either...

Apart from that I'm not fond of the remix.

I like the "Are You Hung Up" remix better than the original.

The segue from "Mom & Dad" to "Telephone Conversation" with the final note of M&D audible under the phone ringing is also sort of cool.
