Don "Sugarcane" Harris, 1938 - 99, played the long violinsolo on the hotrats album for example.
Johnny Guitar Watson, 1935 - 96, sings the outchorus on San Ber'dino (one size fits all) for example.
Both were legends FZ adored, when nobody already knew him. Zappa said that Watsons song Three Hours Past Midnight inspired him to become a guitarplayer (source: german wikipedia).

Hi cleon, i just quoted the german wikipedia. they provide this link, where u can read: "Zappa cited Watson's 1956 single "Three Hours Past Midnight" as the piece of music that had inspired him to become a guitarist himself." http://www.rockabillyhall.com/JohnnyWatson1.html, look at BIO
8)
By the way: Can u recommend the transmissions DVD (sound-/imagequality, playingtime)?
