I used to run home so I could listen to these guys on our excellent stereo with AR speakers and now almost 40 years later I still listen to them on AR speakers!

Their first live album, was my first taste of anything heavier than the Beatles. I bought it because it was only $4.99 for the double album. No going back after that. (this was before I'd ever heard of Zappa/Mothers, by about 3 or 4 months)

One of my all time favorites and the definitive concert band of their day...the only band that got Led Zeppelin booed off stageā€¦ when they opened for them at Shay in NY, they were cut as an opening act for LZ after that.

From my home town!

I dream of the day in which some fans collect enough money to commission a GF tributary statue like has been done for other r&r individuals/groups.

Those guys didn't do drugs either. There was an interview with Mark Farner and he said he took Frank outside and let him shoot a gun. He claimed that Frank Joined the NRA after that.

This NRA

Convinced they are 'The Chosen Ones' --
And all their parents carry guns,
(Hey, look! Godzilla!)
And hold them cards in the N.R.A.
(Ah, hellfire, Melvin, hey hee!)
(With their fingers on the trigger
("It's hot.")
When they kneel and pray)
("I mean that . . . ")

Jesus Thinks You're A Jerk

Gotta disagree, how bout, cream, James gang, ELP, and: Lee Michaels & Frosty blew them off the stage with B3 and percussion.

had their first two albums, way back when, in the early 70s.
didn't really like them. and if I heard them now, I would probably think they sucked.

A local DJ/Family friend used to sneak me up for nite-time shows on the weekend
I'd pull obscure little numbers off of obscure albums , just for th hell of it

i could also record these albums from a turntable onto my oversized cassete tape recorder thingy
i was 13 maybe 14, but our friend was a blast and we'd have a few beers and fun with alternate lyrics
1972-3 ish

i really dug the We're an American Band album. it was gold
.. and when we played Black Licorice my DJ friend would sing
Lick her Ass , Lick Her Ass .. Black Licorice .. haha

in context .. th Hollies ?
Cast yer spell upon me one more time
I wanna feel yer Magic Woman CRUTCH
etc etc

i discovered Chungas Revenge there and had to wonder why there was BIG blue 'Censored' stamps on some the album tracks
those tracks had been scratched out on the album also
i think the only playable song was 'Road Ladies' .. hah , wierd science

we used play that one too , tis how i remember

Now: if ya really hip, it is possible to sync th good audio
over the bad audio using these 2 links ..

Linko 1

Linko 2

I still know people that think the lyric is "Ordered two kilos in Omaha."
