I was wondering what folks feel things will be like when Dweezil is in full control of the ZFT?
Will we see more releases? Will there be a more healthy relationship with the fan base?
What do you guys think?
I was watching that latest video of Joe in the vault and it got me thinking, I'm sure if it were up to Joe a lot more stuff would have been released. His enthusiasm and knowledge is catching. I dunno, I think him a Dweezil make a great team but while Gail is running the show I guess they gotta sing her tune.

Not wishing any ill to Gail by the way, I'm just hypothetical time wasting.............

Why only Dweezil?
Aren't there three other beneficiaries?
If yes, do you think the more people are involved the better the decision making?

"Flakes Flakes" is pretty catchy.

Dweezil is easily the most qualified. My only concern with him might be how far his taste extends. For example, he may not be as interested as Frank himself in the more modern classical end of the spectrum, but then again that may not even be an issue.

There is no doubt. I am just saying the rest of the family might want a part of this cake. Moreover if they are not involved in music.

They would all presumably have equal shares, but may not all be the voice.

Will it to me! A new release every week in the highest quality audio.

(At 40 dollars a pop. Did I mention that?)

I guess the ZFT is just that, a trust. I don't know what interest the others have in their father music/legacy but Dweezil comes across as being the most influenced by his father. He's certainly the musician and his passion for his fathers works cannot be denied. I just think he and Joe make a great team and I'd like to see them continue doing the work they do.

I think Gail is very qualified. She said in a radio interview that one of her regrets is that she didn't tell her husband how big a fan she was. She made a contribution to a recent £75 biography on E.Varese which may be an indicator.

What was the contribution?

Was it insightful and lucid, or was it just a case of saying "My husband, Frank Zappa, was a big fan (so I'll ride his coattails and get myself into a serious book)"?

Maybe I'm being unkind. There are many interviews where FZ mentions that he and Gail sat around listening to records together... I'm just not sure (if the recent liner notes are anything to go by) that she would have anything useful to say about the music, or the man.

I would love to be corrected on this.

I have to say I only glanced at the book on Varesé at Birmingham central public library here in the UK. But I will delve deeper. The interviews that I have heard, some of which are on those radio websites for you to listen again and again show to me that she is an erudite, interesting and intelligent woman. I don't agree with her stance toward excluding the old MOI members, but musicians are fickle humans but their talent and their contributions mask a lot of failings and I understand why she has done it. I for one am not bowled over by ZPZ as far as I'm concerned it is not an authentic experience - but I regard her role as sincere, and her overview of Zappa releases has created excellent products. I wish for the maintenance of the archive that they could shift more units.

Man I wish I could find a woman who likes Zappa let alone Varese.

The last greatest news for me is that Dweezil started to edit films. So with all the material Frank has in vault they could do a very nice documentory. Musicaly we are loaded now, its time for visual stuff. Roxy first for sure. :|
