This topic is for any recycled riffs by the same artist. I'll start it off. Willie the Pimp has the same riff as Flakes, well almost. See where this is going?

:? Although they're both funky riffs, I don't hear it. However, the obvious Zappa choice is "Crew Slut" and "Sex", although the latter adds that really cool weird chord.

Willie The Pimp-- ----- Flakes
I----------------------- I----------------------
I----------------------- I----------------------
I---------2-5----------- I---2-5-2--------------
I-----2-5-----5-2------- I-5-------5-2----------
I-0-5-------------5-3-0- I-------------530--5/17
I------------------------ I-----------------------

That's what I mean when I say almost.

I don't think they sound the same other than the same notes involved, diffrent timing is the other half of music you can't say a song is the same because of the notes involved if it was there would only be a handful of songs around

Willie the pimp its chords there at the beginning while the riff is being played.and it stays steady.
Flakes sounds like the (Eagles Life in the Fast lane) the first half of the riffs on them vary from the second, fast Q&A and no Chords played over them.
Flakes starts the riff on different note each of the too niffty riffs.
Fast Lane finish on different note each of the too nifty riffs.

I know dude, I'm just saying. But where do you think he got the inspiration for that riff?

Do you need some help, you ravin' toffs? (ow, my darling word; tof means in Dutch excellent etc)

I come over in a minute and then the Netherlands have something to talk about all week long. Let me ff (effe: nonchalantly, by-the-by, just, simple-ways, quickly) get rid off
Walter Sobchak and Theodore Donald "Donny" Kerabatsos (or summin), they are such a drag. Could result in some unheard-of rants and mind-boggling banter. Wade and sea.

Do you nice people mean to say to me or refuse to say to me or anyone that Pink Floyd's "MONEY" and FZ's "BAMBOOZLED BY LOVE" has never been noticed?

I know this has been mentioned often elsewhere, but given the thread title, one more time for the world. FZ used Hendrix's Who Knows? riff for the "wrapped a newspaper round my head" section of Cosmik Debris. It's perfect, it belongs there, as a composer myself I think his use of it is perfectly justified. (We're thick as thieves.)

That's a good one. Never thought of that.

No, I've been aware of this for a long time, given how many times I've listened to both songs over the decades.

Do a forum search with "floyd money bamboozled". Funnily enough, Bat, that doesn't show your post. This forum search thing still leaves a lot to be desired and I'm not sure why, searching is not exactly that big a deal for a programmer.

I just put in floyd money bamboozled, no quotes. It was the first post found.

Maybe it's a timing thing. When I first did the search after seeing Bat's post I got three hits back. I just did a search again after seeing your post and got five hits this time but not Bat's first post about this or your post where you said "That's a good one. Never thought of that.". The extra two it did find were my original comment about Bat's post and your post telling me it was the first that showed up. The forum search is occasionally useful but it's often strangely dodgy.

Well, this isn't the only place where searches have come up with different things at different times when given the same search terms. (Psst! Please overlook my hideously bad grammar in that first Floyd/Zappa comparison post I made 'cause when I make a mess I don't fuck around with trifles! )

(Whoa! All this time I've been meaning to wish you a speedy recovery, Polydigm! I sure hope you're fast on the mend.)

--Bat

P.S. I wonder how many Blues riffs have been reused multiple times over the last hundred years or longer? A search like that would choke a supercomputer! And on the idea of this thing's search function it might be as little as a single space added to change a whole result.

Cheers, Bat, I've been home since lunch today, it's late evening here now. I've still got a long road ahead, but the prognosis is positive.

Good to hear, Poly! (But the "long road ahead" isn't.)
My best!

Hardly. But if you strain you can hear a few alike passages.

Maybe I'm one of the last to realize this but I was thunderstruck one day to hear that whole bass riff throughout, "He's So Gay", as precisely and obviously intentionally the same riff as the one that runs throughout Donna Summers' "I Feel Love".

Some of every day's occurrences are hard to get to grasps with all the time, comprehension-wise and realization.

Freaksimple, eh for instance have so much more people been struck by bad weather than they heard a Jack-Pot cracking. Whatever this now implies, one would sometimes wish 4toons in a row, quarreling who's best. ..contemporary music....

The Barrier-Reef from Fish the mighty Marillioner sounds ey lot like "Leaves much to be desired" by Licky Tone Gong Air-Guitarist, if you know what a storm is gathering in the C-cup.
