Hi - I'm after information on FZs use of the Big Muff and the Proco Rat fuzz boxes.

I've heard that FZ used to keep his Rat on the floor next to his Wah pedal - with all his other
pedals (including the Big Muffs) on shelves in one or other rack unit.

Does anyone here remember seeing FZ use either the Rat or the Muff on stage, and if so where or when?
If anyone can point me at a photo even better.

many thanks

Von Mek

I never saw a distortion pedal. I remember an interview once where he said he preferred distortion coming from his amp. But that's about all I know.

It says in the Viva Zappa book that Klaus Wiedemann who was live recording engineer late seventy's built a effects rack that incuded a Big Muff for FZ.

thanks - yes that was the infamous "Blue Box for Bimbos" rack used in the late 80s tours - had two Big Muffs at some point - I'm trying to find out if he used one earlier - have seen mention of him having an stompbox next to his wah on stage but don't know what it is.
