I love Power Duos, I simply adore Power Duos,
and the cheaper they are ...

My favourites are the Moist Boys (Dickey Moist and Mickey Moist).
And yours?

Since they are really great, they count as a duo, of course.

I almost recommended them, but very much like the Black Keys...
they lost a great deal of power beyond their 2nd records IME/H (in my ears/head).

What about the Black Diamond Heavies:

What about the FLAT DUO JETS !!?

Charlie Hunter/Scott Amendola :!:
Their last 2 are outstanding instr. guitar/drum albums. Goin to see them again next month, and will grab the new one which is a covers album of 4 artists- Hank Williams, The Cars, Cole Porter, & Duke Ellington.

Hella back in the day was pretty nuts. I saw them once in '07 when they expanded to a 5 piece w/ vocals. Different animal.

On The Black Keys:
I missed that boat big time on them. Saw them in a small club in '02 with about 50 people. They were OK, but just seemed like a low-budget blues band for kids who don't know real blues. They were the opening band, and I was there to see Skeleton Key. They've since turned into like todays version of George Thorogood or Bad Company for hipster kids.

On The Pack A.D.
Their first two albums are real raw blues, and excellent works. I praise them though for not sticking to the same formula and branching more into punk/rock territory for albums 3 & 4. The songwriting and playing is so top notch on We Kill Computers, & Unpersons. And unlike the Black Keys, it's just Becky & Maya with no hired guns on the album/stage. They're probably the best fucking band from Canada at the present. Do Not Engage is one of my fave albums of 2014.

Sounds interesting, will delve.

Yeah, I don't know about the kids,
but I know that Dan Auerbach is not wet behind the ears when it comes to the blues.
Want proof? Check out his pre Black Keys band the Barnburners.

Yeah, no one from Canada will ever top Nomeansno :smoke: . I said current on The Pack, cuz NMN still tours, but they haven't put out an album in 8 yrs. The two EPs from 2011 were great though.

Moistboyz indeed rule, but are only a duo on album. Saw 'em live in '05 and last year. They're a five-piece live.
Big Business would also fall in this category. First album was a two-piece with guest guitarist. They've been a fine power trio for several years now.

I saw the Pack A.D. open for Alice in Chains last night and they tanked. The songs were ok, but the drummer is the lead weight of that group. Yikes.

Yeah, I have always thought the same thing.
It would be interesting to see what Becky could accomplish with
... let's just say... another drummer.

I don't know, I think her drumming style fits the music. More of a basic but hard hitting Ringo style. They were great both times I saw them.
Tiboudre, I wonder if they had sound/monitor issues on the AIC tour to where they couldn't hear each other and the playing was just off, or just you don't like her playing at all. I find it hard to believe that she just was playing "badly".
Yeah, would be cool to hear Becky with a more jamming-type drummer in another group.

Fred, she wasn't playing badly. In my opinion, if you're in a two-piece band, you need to fill the space a little more than by simply playing quarter note type drum beats.
