Great to see the Duke of Prunes.
How come there is no story to this photo? Did you take the photo yourself Lorenzo?
If so, what is the story behind it happening?
Questions, question, questions........

Tough question. He may have went with MCI, AT&T, Verizon, or even the USS Nimitz.

It was supposed to be "career", but due to my famous mis-spelling the guys spun it into different types of "cariers", it was so funny I had to join in on it... :smoke:

Thanks pbuzby, interesting artical.I wonder if anyone has the 45 single Ned & Nelda? It sounds like it's just him and FZ as a "Folk" duo.

I don't have the original single, but I do have "Hey, Nelda", and "Surf Along With Ned & Nelda" on the Paul Buff Studios release.

Pretty corny. You wouldn't confuse them with, say, the Beach Boys. Ned sings with a cracked voice...almost like Wild Man Fischer.

Far out! With surf in the title I was hoping for a FZ doe's Dick Dale guitar song.I'll have to ask Dr.
Demento radio to play it,thats probably the only way I'll hear it.....Unless I could borrow your copy that is.. .. :smoke: .... .........

This was not my pic. Found it by doing a Google search. I sent several emails to the man who wrote the article about Ray. Apparently, Ray does not want to be bothered. He is perfectly content being a local celebrity. Ray is my favorite mother because he is mysterious and chose to go his own way. He did not like the direction the band was headed. He was just a singer and Zappa veered off in a more complex direction musically. I think Ray liked the DooWop songs. The first group of mothers will always be my favorite group.

One other thing, Ray Collins was born in 1936, making him at least 74 years old.
He looks better than I would have expected.
He looks fairly healthy and solid for his age. He would probably look years younger without the white beard.

He wouldn't look as wizened or grizzled.

Buzz Gardner, born 1931.
Bunk Gardner, born 1933.
Don Preston, born 1932.
Ian Underwood, born 1938.
Jimmy Carl Black, born 1939.
The early Mothers were not youngsters.
