I must say that I am still a sucker for this album. It is quite energetic and I love the garage sound. It makes me smile.

And as Zappa said, McLaughlin really did achieve to treat the guitar as a machine gun!!! (In an 1980s concert I have on DVD, he actually plays on a guitar with some stupid contraption attached that makes it LOOK like a machine gun. Hillarious!)

You Know, You Know is my favourite on there, but Noonward Race is cool and I like the whole album. Still very listenable for me.

Before I even clicked on the link I had a feeling it would be The Noonward Race! This is still one of the most incredible things i`ve ever listened to.

My favourite LP of all time. Amazing that it was recorded in an afternoon.

I'd buy this, but there's been faster players with more control since.

I love the album, but I tend to skip Nooward Race, too tense, even for me...

You Know, You Know, on the other hand... 8)

Or what about this one:

There are sublime moments on Noonward Race. Did you know JMac played a rented guitar?

Really?

on the opposite side of the spectrum:

Also, from the Electric Guitarist album, one of my favourites:

(followed by a song I would pair with Noonward Race, called Phenomenon: Compulsion)

For the historic record:

Jimi Hendrix & John McLaughlin jam (best quality)

"that drummer" scared the shit outta Frank Zappa, and so Zappa hired 2 drummers.

I read that Jerry Goodman and Rick Laird were having a punchup while JMc and Billy Cobham were playing this, JMc liked the way it sounded without bass and violin, the rest is history.
