Since 200 Motels recently appeard on Netflix, I cannot help but wonder the current status of UM. Who owns the rights, will it be released again, or do I have to settle for finding some crappy old VHS copy (if I am so lucky). I have still never seen this film and would like the opportunity. Yes, I have read the myriads of opinions on both sides. However, undaunted, I strive still to see this thing through legitamate means if possible.

Besides the old VHS, I don't thing there's a legitimate way you can get it.
Too bad, I think it's a great movie and I'll buy it as soon as it is available on DVD.

Nice. The 2 used copies on Amazon are selling for $100 or more. And none on Ebay.

When I got rid of my stacks and stacks of videos during house moves I kept about 6.
Uncle Meat was one of them. Another was 12 Wasted Years and I can't remember the rest.
They weren't porn but I can't remember what they are now.
Ah yes, one of them is 200 Motels!

I've got VHS(Honker) of Uncle Meat, and also 200 Motels.

Anyone interested?
Are they really worth anything?

I've got both Uncle Meat and The Amazing Mr Bickford on Honker VHS. Dumped them both to digital a long time ago. Who wants to mess with a VCR these days? Maybe we should start a "Who's glad VCR is a thing of the Past?" thread. While I kind of get the fondness for Vinyl, VCR is just a total pain in the arse, no?

It certainly is a pain, but since UM is not available in DVD it seems I have no other legitamate way to obtain it.

I'm not having a go at your desire to get a copy of the UM video. Whatever else, if you haven't seen it, you should see it at least once. On the other hand, I don't think it's a must own thing, there must be some way of arranging a viewing for you.

What was the real year this VHS came out IINk has.
Published: September 15, 1987 (or January 15, 1988)

and it has YCDTOSA vol2 25 oct 1988
which has a Available soon (UM) (The True story 200 motels) on the back of the tracks(players) booklet artwork copyright 1988

iink has (The True Story Of 200 Motels)January 31, 1989 (Published: May 15, 1988)

I admit it don't make that much difference so why IINK got it all fucked up like that.

It shows that even if he needed money to keep going, what really matter was that people could hear and see what he was doing.
I thing Gail should not bother so much about illegal dowloads because it's the best advertisement she can get.
As Dweezil said, it's all about exposure.
It's a good thing that people can listen to the music and decide if they want to buy it or not.
All she has to do is to keep the music and videos available.

I try really hard to (too?) understand what you're telling me.
Anyway, It is entirely possible for several subjective realities to coexist.

Cleon, I wanted to read the discussion between you and Zack too but everything that you typed appeared as utter gibberish. I couldn't make head nor tail of it.
Maybe you should have been in the film itself :|
