Amazing, isn't it? The crazy part is he turned it down! The Cantina scene is the only section that has that Zappa "feel" to it. One wonders what it would have been like....although John Williams did a pretty great job! I really can't imagine any other music, but it still makes the mind boggle....

The music was a major factor behind SW straight to the heart effectiveness... Maybe Zappa would have "screwed" it for major audiences and hollywood/"broadway" critics (not for Zappaheads though).

Imagine the opening text scene with The Black Page in the background...

Somebody for a laugh and with editing know-how should make a cantana mashup using Take You Clothes Off When You Dance in association with The Real World Thematic Extrapolations. It is something of an intersteller disco afterall.

Or just play the film and the music but with the film sound turned down. (chuckle)

He just knew Star Wars won't work, with his music.

also LOL
I was totally surprised, when i once discovered the same article here: http://packardgoose.ploeg.ws/interactive/forums/Files/viewthread.php?tid=453#pid12471 way back when. I never expected FZ to have any respect against superhero comics before. I guessed him consider it as cheap cheesy just commercial crap, as he did with most popmusic, doing nothing than leave irreparable scarfs on the mind of foolish young (or not so young anymore) consumers. For example: the character studebaker hoch is a very harsh parody on the genre of superheros that is neither friendly nor charming in any way (IMHO - cheepnis seems a little bit more friendly towards the genre of SF-B-movies). The more i was astounded to read this article, especially as a person, who was addictive to marvel comics (and DC also a little bit) long times before becoming a FZ-addict.
