You can take the same basic principle and expand that where the
ZPZ band is an orchestra and those other bands are pop R&B/R&Reggae groups.

Zappa Plays Zappa is performing the compositions of a composer
but they perform it with the due diligence of any Zappa band.
They are not a cover band.
They are a modern rock orchestra no different than any of Zappa's touring lineups.

I'm not saying he's wrong as regards likeability of the music - and I really like Earth + Sky - because that is just a matter of taste. He's completely wrong as regards his technical claims, he probably doesn't even know Earth + Sky exists.
