I know what you mean. When I was a dumb, novice computer dink in 2002, I thought I'd get on the internet and finally get to converse with my intellectual peers. Imagine my surprise. They let "adults" with third grade educations (I'm being generous here) play with these things.

Meanwhile, on the Trendmonger front, inhabitants of Dweezil Zappa World are getting an education in West Side Story, because, as we all know, lovers of Broadway musicals all flock to Zappa websites. If you want to get in on the latest Trend, look for the lovely little group called Sir Links A Lot (under the Connections tab). I'd supply a link, but it's too much fucking trouble.

I just heard Heathaze by Genesis on my iPod the other day. Sort of a lyrical liberty here, except I changed nothing.

Now the light is fading fast,
Chances slip away, a time will come to pass
When there'll be none,
Then addicted to a perfumed poison,
Betrayed by its aftertaste,
Oh we shall lose the wonder and find nothing in return.
Many are the substitutes but they're powerless on their own.

Beware the fisherman who's casting out his line
Into a dried up river bed,
But don't try to tell him 'cos he won't believe you.
Throw some bread to the ducks instead, it's easier that way.
I feel like an alien, a stranger in an alien place.

Thanks, Tony Banks.

You know, if I could reach through MonoTones's computer screen and strangle him, I would. I would also reach through Pope Jim's screen and administer a clip 'round the ear for bringing this latest heap of festering word-faeces to my attention.

"a clip 'round the ear." Is that a slap upside the head or 13 shots from your Glock? In either case it seems a bit misdirected to me, since you, of your own free will, went and looked at it. I don't recall twisting your arm. So up yours, Jack!

Probably closer to a slap upside the head. Another interesting linguistic twirl we use is "a toe up the hole" as in (to an unruly child) "behave yourself or you'll get my toe up yer hole."

If bullets are to be used we refer to someone being awarded the O.B.E. (One Behind the Ear).

Now you can speak the lingo come visit.

Somebody's baiting the Trendmonster over at DZW. Should be a new rant any hour now. Run out and buy a six-pack while you can. Study aids are always helpful.

I'm disappointed. This is all we've got so far:

Of the many wonderful surprises that are unfolding I am pleased to see Ridgefield CT, Ridggefield Playhouse has been added. First Sunday in November. Sweet!

His positivity is such a drag. Everyone's bitching about Joe Travers and Brown Lipstick Boy finds a new opportunity to buy a ticket.

Responding to spew alert. Gary's slant on the situation:

Gary wrote on May 10, 2013 at 12:23 PM
For anyone that is overtly pondering the woderful surprises of the upcomming tour. I have not heard anyone mention of the change in the drum chair as that of being one of those wonderful surprises. I can't even say that I was surprised but as always I have the utmost confidence in what Dweezil and his band will bring to the live stage. I can't wait to hear what Ryan Brown will bring to Zappa Plays Zappa.

Long before Zappa Plays Zappa, history had shown us that Dweezil allready had a level of excelence. It certainly went to another level with Zappa Plays Zappa, but for anyone that was around, some people knew to expect the unexpected, where we would get the level of performance we have seen seen since 2006. It just keeps evolving where the amount of shows and compositions performed are astounding.

Before there was Joe Travers there was a guy by the name of Josh Freese. He has had a very successful career and it took Josh Freese's deparature for us all to know and love Joe Travers. I'll certainly be eager to hear what Ryan will bring, and but also now that we can expect to continue to hear more about Joe Travers work for the ZFT and o&hellip;<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="toggle_read_more(this)">Read more</a>

[Don't ask me what that last line's about. Perhaps Dweezil had his web-person add a garble to prevent certain people from gushing oral diarrhea. More to come, as Trendy did a work-around -- three consecutive messages.]

Gary wrote on May 10, 2013 at 12:25 PM
continued ....I would expect at some point that Dweezil and Joe will work together again. Dweezil has worked with other drummers since he and Joe began playing togethger since the early 90s, but in 20 years the work achieved may very well keep open the artistic opportunities. I don't feel there is a need for me to over- analyze the change but more-so be forever the optimist regarding change.

As has been shown since April of 2006 Zappa Plays Zappa will evolve where the confidence and execution will undunbtedly be of the highest ambient domain. It's going to be interesting to watch the current evolution, not only in the change in the drum chair, and but also the musical director role. Certainly there was a hole in my heart when Joe and I spoke about his departure. I think it is fitting to leave the details and so called business aspects between the emploer and the employee. I want to be very clear about that but it is clear that the relationship is far more than just a business thing that we see so much today. The music speaks so much.

[and but also:]

Gary wrote on May 10, 2013 at 12:26 PM
.... continued ....I will leave some personal feelings on the matter. I've been a friend of Joe Travers for several decades. I've seen him perform and speak in every event he has ever had in New York City. Then again I have never missed a Dweezil Zappa event in the NYC metro area. When Joe and I spoke of his departure from Zappa Plays Zappa, I did not get any of the perceptions some are putting out here. I have not heard of any harsh coldness between Dweezil and Joe. I get the feeling that Dweezil is sound in his decisions, even when he needs to hire new musicians in a short time period. Look at how he went out and got Ben Thomas. The majority are quite happy with those results. History has shown us how quickly Dweezil can hire an open chair seat in his band and adapt to change. For those that may have not been following the so called long journey. Joe first began playing with Dweezil 20 years ago. I would not at all be surprised if at some point they play again. Pointedly at this moment what I find amazing is how Dweezil Zappa, a professionals professional, went out and hired a new drummer.

I particularly enjoyed the words "woderful" (either something to do with Picts, or something very sad indeed) and "undunbtedly" (not very stupidly cunt-like?).
As well as the fact that " professionals professional[s]" are so cosmic, they notice when a drummer has left the band and hire another one.

The Trendmangler ain't done yet:

@ Poodle,

The reason of why I did not reply directly is because I did not feel it was necessary to directly address any questions you may or may not be having about changes to the drum chair. Even when there is a hole in the heart the surprises are always positive. It's amazing how Dweezil keeps the project moving forward.

You have spoken of many nice things, not only now but throughout the history of Zappa Plays Zappa so history has shown us many wonderful things. So called scoops of this magnitude, that is something I stay far away from. As far as I know the official change came from the Zappa announcement. If anyoen learned it elsewhere, well they missed the official tour document. That is where as I felt best to let it come from. As far as Dweezil or the ZFT making some big announcement, well it just may be best just how they did it. It was a clear and direct change. I support how they annouced the change. I certainly see nothing in the announcement nor have I heard anything official to dictate any fan machine drooling over as to why. It's not like Joe is retiring and he shou&hellip;<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="toggle_read_more(this)">Read more</a>

@ Poodle,

It's not like Joe is retiring and he should get some gold watch or one of those 1970s barometric clocks that coporations would hand out back then. For anyone that has such a clock the repair cost are quite alarming. We all tend to agree that the musical accomplishments are something we all love. Those who have a good friendship with Joe, I am sure they will miss him on so many levels on this tour. With the evolution of ZPZ the majority of us are ever so positive. Since Aril of 2006 The Paul Green Humpy Dumptyness of the worlds have been put to sleep. The majority all love Joe's contribution and friendship. We open our arms to Ryan and ZPZ moving forward.

EDIT NOTE: As to Dweezil not having the time to as of yet not write up an announcement and stating that a proper announcement will come shortly. As I had earlier stated, Dweezil Zappa is the professionals professional. Him not having time. Very understandable. The majority of us are always going to be very supportive and give the utmost consideration to these situations.

You may have to pull his head out of someone's (ahem) ass first so he can hear you.

My head contains more shit than that, Jack. The difference is, I turn mine into stories -- not bestsellers, unfortunately, but readable, at least. (Commercial: check out Hubble by Jim Wilson, available at Amazon.com)
What cracks me up is that Trendy thinks his foreshortened screeds are the result of javascript errors. I think they're deliberate. I think Dweezil had it done to shut him up. It hasn't worked, obviously. Assburger must spew. There's no stopping him.

Nice one Jim

Poodle quote: "History has shown us how quickly Dweezil can hire an open chair seat in his band and adapt to change"

I wonder how well an open chair seat can keep time?

Why am I reading this? Why am I asking you?

But this

" I don't feel there is a need for me to over- analyze the change but . . . "

is overwhelming. Coming up next: Praising everybody at DZW for creating these wonderful Javascript errors.
