Since my girlfriend brought a fantastic vinyl from James Blood Ulmer, I thought about to reactivate my good old tape deck in order to tape this rare record (Part Time loive from Montreux 1983). So I plugged it and it still works :) It's like a trip back into a bygone era 8)
Of course I tried out FZ first. Is anybody still using cassettes ?

I have some factory cassette music that has never been reissued , listen to them once in a while and the same with some vinyl on cassette, so yes once in a while.

Unfortunately there are no chromium dioxide and metal tapes available anymore. I found some "normal" cassettes today. These times are gone. Pity !

"Smoke the tapes?"
Hell yeah, I still rock cassettes :D . Before the Zappa reissues in 2012, I made vinyl dubs of essential albums like Hot Rats & Mothermania. No need for those now.
Most of the cassettes I've had since the late '80s/early '90s still play well. My GMC truck has a stock CD & cassette player, so vinyl-only releases that I buy are put to tape. Fuck listening to music through a freaking phone or an I-pud. :P

Some of my fave cassettes that get a lot of play and still sound awesome:
Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet thru Exile On Main St.
ZZ Top's First Album
Hendrix - Winterland(Ryko), Stages box, Nine To The Universe
Beatles - White Album, Abbey Road

Back in the late '90s, a buddy of mine bought that big mail-order deal that Barfko Swill had on their cassettes where it was like most of the catalog dirt cheap. I'll have to ask him about those next time I see him, and if they've been stored well. I had all the stuff on CD at the time, but it would be interesting to check those out now.

Still do! I record on them too. Was thrilled when I learnt a few days ago of another musical hero doing the same. Go tapes!

My girlfriend's pretty cool but she never brought home any James Blood Ulmer records.
Right on, Fritz.

I've got lots of old band recordings (my old bands) on cassette so about once a year I get the tape deck down from the loft and have a listen. My Aiwa deck is about 20 years old now and those heads don't half creak when they go round 8)

I've got a tape system in my Lexus. 8)

I've got homemade mix tapes going back to the '70s. Also, a shitload of Zappa shows.

I had a tapeplayer in my car, and I always had about 15 Zappa tapes in it, but I sold it in July. But I even listen to tapes at home sometimes.

My transient nature has caused me to lose a lot of shit over the years. Had a lot of cassettes at one time, but they left in one of many moves after my last tape deck bit the dust.

Yes actually! I still have my nakamichi tape player and about 100 or so cassettes of no longer available lp's.
I've since digitized most of those cassettes.
