Certainly not eating shit.

I don't know how outrageous this was by 1981, but it's interesting how Lisa Popeil appeared on stage with Zappa wearing nothing but sexy lingerie. Presumably to go with the hooker imagery of "Teenage Prostitute" as well as put more emphasis on Lisa's hmmm, femininity for her "Life Story".

Maybe smoking was forbidden in some of the thousands of places where they performed and Zappa did it anyway.

There is one audience tape from the 1988 tour where during an instrumental someone in the audience is heard saying "if he's allowed to smoke why aren't we?"

What the hell is going on on the front cover of Roxy & Elsewhere? Looks pretty outrageous.

It was pretty much standard procedure for Frank to invite people to dance on stage. HELLO! 8)

She just needs a hug on Frank's leg.

In 1973 at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, Frank's first words to the audience were something like, "This is a beautiful place to play and everything, but there's a bunch of people backstage who are too worried about losing their jobs. Those people can EAT ME!"

Then, later in the same show, he made the editor from downBeat magazine dance in a truly silly and demented fashion, when the poor guy tried to give Frank a plaque for being downBeats's musician of the year.

I was at that show. Parts of "Jesus Thinks You're a Jerk" (from BTHW) and "King Kong" (from MAJNH) are also from that same show. I was also at the show where "Bacon Fat" and parts of "Stolen Moments" and "What Kind of Girl" are from (BTHW).
