I've become friends with several priest over the years. None where trying to convert me and we'd have some lively discussions. They had the ability to see things from another's point of view and not just the churches dogma. The one I knew in Sacramento, Father Francis, had two little toy poodles that were the real light of his life. That's how I met him, one of his dogs was doing it's biz on my front lawn and I came out. Nice fellow, talked with a lisp, but was so earnest, you could tell this guy really cared for his people. One of which was me, even though I'm not into gods, he considered me under his "umbrella of god" I guess. Maybe he was just thrilled I didn't whack his fuckin' dog for shittin' on my lawn. He never failed to walk those dogs by my place when I was BBQ'ing. I'd always save a treat for his dogs and him too. He was transferred and I moved. I haven't seen him since. :|

Dear Frank,

I understand you had a philosophical and lyrical slant detailing the evils of Corporatism. But many of your fans actually think you were some kind of closet socialist, despite the FACT that you owned several record labels, video companies, sold merchandise and toured the world for 20+ years, making a living and embracing Capitalism more than probably any other musician/entertainer in music history.

My question is this: why the hell are many of your fans lefties/socialists and why do you think they relate to your non-musical qualities, despite the FACT you were a Capitalist and have stated on numerous occasions that Socialism/Communism doesn't work?

Spending all my nights
All my money going out on the town
Doing anything just to get crap music off my mind
But when the morning comes
I'm right back where I started again
Trying to forget today's artists is just a waste of time

Frankie come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Frankie come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong, and I just can't listen to music without you

All day long, wearing headphones by Koss
Trying to listen to music that's played this year
But as the sun goes down
I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here

Frankie come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Frankie come back, you can blame it all on me
Music sucks shit, and I just can't live without you

Now that I put it all together
Give me the chance to make you see
Have you used up all the composing in your heart
Nothing left for me
Ain't there nothing left for me

Frankie come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Frankie come back, listen, you can blame it all on me
Music licks dong, and I just can't listen to it

 Damn cal...yes I choked up. Now anytime I hear that tune, I'll be thinking "Frankie Come Back". Thanks for that cal! :D 8)

BTW:)What's the name of that tune you wrote it to? I've heard it on AM radio a lot I know. It's got a nice cadence to it and like FZ it has a texture that's palpable and lends itself to prose like the above of yours. Even if it was a "pop" song. Any kind of fool could see....that. :)
Good stuff old chap, what?

It's "Baby Come Back" by Player.

KK, it's "Baby Come Back" by Player. Now somebody needs to rewrite "We're Turning Again" and include Frank in the roll call of dead rock stars. Bad taste? Probably. I remember a Steve Vai interview from the '80's where he said that was the only FZ song that disappointed him because he thought it was not cool to make fun of dead rock stars. Now that FZ is a candidate for inclusion I wonder what his fans would think?

Wow KU the anger, it actually looks good on you..so if Frank did answer in this thread would you Freak Out... :smoke:

I've made some angry posts, Plook, but this wasn't one of them. Just quoting the band from 200 Motels when they thought Frank was spying on them through the tv. I guess it does kind of bother me though when the hero worship meter swings past the red line too violently.

FZ is dead. Is he a dead rock star> That is still debated amongst the unwashed and unworthy. ARE you one of THOSE KU? For shame, for shame, and shaz-zam, Frank Zappa was and always will be a man a human being, a person. A stand out bigger than life person. But still just another musician that got crabs/clap a lot then, eh? He put his pants on same as me and you and followed his dik wherever it went like all musicians do. Noooo shiiiiit!
Don't ever change your posts, angry or not, at least they're an honest view. I think your input is rather refreshing. Your right, it's like a religion here where we just follow along blindly. Then when we do cross someone's invisible line everyone get's in another line to bash whoever is bashing FZ, when it's not like that at all from the get go. BTW: I got the penis line. Only because I've had the 200 Motels soundtrack since it came out. 8)
This aint no religion,
This ain't no disco.
It's just a place to go,
To here some Frankie,
(No matter where it come's from)
We're very cleanly,
So very cleanly,
We squeak when we cum.
We all hate housework,
Dangerous Kitchens,
And those folks on cocaine.
When we find them itchin'
We send them to the Kitchen,
That's how things gets done.

Ok, if that didn't make you smile, I'm losing my touch!

Thanks y'all, Frankie (Baby) Come Back and Jumbo Go Away...sounds like a plan. 8)

I was walking on the street
unconscious of the traffic
You were following me in case
i make a mistake

All my life was an error
When i figured that out
i tried to stop that fact
but finished under straps

plz Frank let me out
of this hell of terror
Tell me if i am saved
or make me dead

Today i have no life
posting on this thread
trying to reach God
i hope i am not wrong

I never though of making
people sad i was just
out of my mind

Thanks Frank you open my eyes
on my mistakes in the dark
i was such a fool to not catch
that God was in sky

I hope to be strong
when i front the look of your eyes
and pray you catch am a good guy

If one day i can listen music
like the good ole days
i will be more happy
than a kid in apple pie

Thanks Frank again
you have saved my life
before it was to late
and become a stupid rag

Dear Frankie

I want a garden
Where the weeds don't even grow
I'll water that garden with my tears
Trees and leaves won't wither

Once I had a garden
Now I stray on common ground
From a four room apartment
At 48 and getting old

I want a garden
I want my garden

Somehow
Somewhere

Broadmoor!

^ Oh yeah! ^

Hey Frank,
What do you think about tomato's,... fruit, vegetable or both?
And Frank sez: "Call any vegetable (call it by name) and the chances are good....that a vegetable will respond to you."
He's still talking to us through releases and other scary movie type ways, mwahaha, even after 20 years!
Ain't that right Frankie? Frank? Frank!!!

Big Frank Zappa voice sez: "Don't you be terrified, it's just an illusion so what can it mean? "Get the picture?" ~ FZ

There used to be a guy here, a few Halloweens ago, claiming to channel Frank. He even recorded a song "composed and produced by Frank Zappa" from the beyond. True or false?

It's true, of course. (Well, the part about this person saying they are channeling Frank, anyway.) And there's more than one song now, there's like a whole page!

The original thread:
http://www.zappa.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=10540

The "Songs channeled from Frank" page:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=611600&content=music

It certainly sounds kinda "Zappa-ish", but it seems that Frank has lost most of his talent in traversing to the other side.

Oh, yeah.
He (or Frank) has been listening to "What's New In Baltimore" quite a lot and forgotten how to play guitar in the process.

The sickest one that Frank talked to me i was listening his music i can't recall the tune maybe you guys will know. I was building an antenna for my shortwave radio and i had a balun in my hand and in the zappa song Frank said put that balun down. I stoped moving but did not put it down so frank said alright muffin man. I think its the song about the motel where they used to fish by the windows.

Anyone know this song?

edit: my pc music was set at random.

The hotel is The Edgewater Inn.
The song would be The Mud Shark.
The album is The Mother's Live '71 at the Fillmore East.
