I'm a big Maiden fan. In fact thats how i got into Zappa. I had the picture of Steve Harris in the Titties & Beer t-shirt on my wall for years. When i was 10 years old i was browsing a record shop and found Zappa In New York. I bought the album because i remembered Harris' t-shirt. I took it home, loved the track but the rest flew miles over my head. Took me a few years to appreciate it and once i did i promptly bought all of Frank's records.

I was a big fan too, I saw them twice for the Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Tours.
I still like to listen to them every once in a while, mostly The Number Of The Beast and all the firsts albums 'til Powerslave.
Never knew they were fans of FZ, what a nice surprise!

I have just demanded that my band covers "Killers" at our next gig. It won't happen, but we will have some fun trying.

I can say IM was part of my entry into music...

I can remember walking in to Tower Records in the early '80's and kind of embarassingly buying an IM record and a Motley Crue record. Kind of embarassed because I was a somewhat intellectual guy (I thought , anyway) in my 20's and IM and Motley Crue were bands favored by 13 year old stoners. Guilty pleasures, I suppose. Well, here we are in 2011, the year of my 50th birthday and I still think Iron Maiden is a great band. Motley Crue, I'm still a little embarassed about.

I'm not a big Iron Maiden fan, but I do like some of it. I can actually play The Trooper.

I'm a massive 'Maiden fan and have seen them 3 times.
I used to collect all the stuff I could get my hands and even had an original copy of the The Soundhouse Tapes. I had a tour program from 1980 (Spring / Summer tour I think) and if I remember correctly on the Clive Burr page it said that he listened to "Only HM (Heavy Metal) and Zappa"

Just for the record, the majority of people who post at the Maiden BB tend to be a bit on the "stupid" side.

Not too many mental giants around Zappa.com messageboards, either.

I would have guessed that you were still a maiden, unmarried that is.

Was a big Maiden fan in high school. Still have everything up until '93 on cassette. Looking back, they sort of lost it after Powerslave though. Saw them in '92. Good show. Never checked out much after the '90s, what I've heard hasn't impressed me. Saw them do the first four album set on Ozzfest '05(free tix). That was fucking great, they easily blew away Ozz and the Sabs.

I saw them in '05 too. Tony Iommi drove by us in a golf cart while we were trying to cool off by the refreshments, that was fun cuz no one else around noticed who he was.
But, I'd say it was more like Ozzy sucked so much that of course BS sounded lame. But, it was awesome to hear Maiden play all the old stuff.

Yeah, it was definitely cool seeing the original Sabbath, even though Ozzy was the weak link. Maiden just owned the day though, probably why they got kicked off the tour not long after I saw them. Great free show, wouldn't have paid the $50 or whatever to see it though with shitty nu-metallers like Mudvayne on the bill.

Agreed, Killers is the best Maiden album, just like Powerage is the best AC/DC album.
