Some would have my head for this but the three Thana Harris cuts from the CD version of Sleep Dirt. It is just so fucking funny and I only wish Barbra Streisand had sung this stuff because singing these vocal parts is no small feat to manage. Streisand has a fantastic vocal ability, it's just that she's used it to sing some of the worst shit on earth from her first note onward.
Christ! "Hunchentoot, The Spider of Destiny"...the whole thing's a hugely mad and screamingly funny absurdity!

--Batchain

Has anyone asked if recurrent Zappa in your head is a bad thing? I don't think so. If you turn the radio on and get battered by some latest hit and it's playing in the background at some store and then in the fitness section of the gym you go to, to play squash, and everywhere else with a sound system, then it ends up in your head, that's almost a form of abuse. So to have a Zappa theme going around and around in my head kind of protects me from that other shit.

When I first got into Zappa it was after progressing through Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Hawkwind, Pink Floyd and others. I was well into Zappa before Kiss came along and they just sounded like a total bunch of crap to me. Then they had that "I was made for lovin' you baby, you were made for lovin' me" playing everywhere I went - it was a fucking nightmare.

Then what started happening two days ago? I pick my 12 year old up from high school and all the way home in the car he's humming that damn tune "I was made for lovin' you baby, you were made for lovin' me". Where the hell did that come from?

Aaaaagggghhhhh!!!!

I have very often gone through this fabulous bit from 200 Motels - and was just reminded by the thread mentioning Herb Cohen's death:

Dwee-doo dee-ooo-poo
Pa-dan!

Jeff: Does this kind of life look interesting to you? Night after night, dinners with Herb Cohen. Thrill-packed, fun-filled evenings on the French Riviera at the MIDEM convention. A fake tie, the whole bit. Watch Mutt eat, and Leon feed the geese. One thousand green business cards, with your name and the wrong address. Plus six royalty statements, inspected and customized by Rantoon Tan, Hantoon Frammin, and DEE . . . Followed by twelve potential suicides as the members of your group, past and present, find out they can't collect unemployment. A dog, a car, an epidemic of body lice, with your own record company, your name on the door, electric buzzer to the inner office, and Ona's tits, and a three month supply of German bookings with tickets on Air Rangoon. Does this kind of life look interesting to you? As a fake rock and roll guitar player in a comedy group?

Hunna hunna hunna

200 Motels
200 Motels
Ran toon han toon
Han-toon-hannnnnn!
200 Motels

Jeff:
I'm stealing the room!
I'm stealing the room!
I'm stealing the room!

Chorus:
I'm stealing the room
I'm stealing the . . .
I'm stealing the room
I am steel
Stealing
I'm stealing the . . .
I'm stealing the . . .
I
I AM
I AM STEEL
STEEL!
