Sucks. One of my favorite bands. I guess we never would have had The Revenge of Vera Gemini without him. I never did see them in person, but I do remember going to a theater and seeing the Black And Blue film.

R.I.P. Allen Grover Lanier

Allen retired from music in 2006, but return to B.O.C. last year for their 40th anniv. show.
I was able to see BOC in 1978(w/UFO) and 2003, with Allen on keys and guitar.

This is a helluva year to be an aging keyboardist/pianist; close to half a dozen have bit the dust.

I agree, I'm glad my mom only made me take two years of piano lessons or I'd be dead now too!

The impacts come more close to FZ fans. Fritz Rau died 83 years old. He was concert promoter for FZ and many others (Miles and Jimi but also ABBA and Michael Jackson, just tell the name of a popular band, he probably has organized their concerts). He also was promoter of the infamous Berlin concert and is mentioned in the song shall we take ourselves seriously.

I always liked her radio shows where she would duet with other keyboardists. One with Chick Corea really stands out in my mind. Also, she's another one gone from A Great Day in Harlem 1958
