There is also a new documentary that was being shown at film festivals earlier this year that is supposed to be very good. I don't think it has been released on DVD yet but it shouldn't be long.

My older brother obviously had a job before me. So he had money to buy great albums that he would always end up finding in my room, on my crappy record player. Deep Purple Made In Japan, any Led Zeppelin and fucking Johnny Winter Captured Live.
We wore the JW vinyl way down.

Misleading thread title alert!

Possible more apt suggestions:

• Still dead, but what the heck, Johnny Winter!
• Let's say good stuff about ??? Click to find out!
• Robin Williams < Johnny Winter. Ask me Why!

they are good, but my favorite winter album has always been, and still is, "second winter."

I prefer his albums on the Blue Sky label in the late 70's and his work with Muddy Waters. Saw him on stage twice. I'll miss him.

FYI, on his FB page (Johnny Winter) there's some really great and rare recordings being released there everyday. The man was very prolific playing the guitar with his friends and peers so there's a lot of really fantastic tunes on there and pairings you'll really like if you dig the blues.

There's an official bootleg series with around ten volumes. I need to own some of that.

Second Winter and Johnny Winter And Live are fantastic. I got Saints and Sinners recently. Saw him first in '74 and again about five years ago. Do also buy his Woodstock CD as Cal recommended.
