I guess Frank hated Intellectuals. I like that phrase Intellectuals and other dead people.

Funny

Interesting, I see Frank Zappa as a great intellectual, but not in the pejorative sense... Great mind. By no means perfect, but truly genial...

it isn't bad being intelligent, but some intellectuals are hiney hoes. Intelligence can be wasted on the bright. They can be very competitive, too brainy, o contact with the real world outside academia land.

Yeah MGG, I was going to say he must have hated himself, because he was very opinionated and had a lot of theories about things he wasn't a direct part of himself. Too busy making music - and why not?

This "academic" vs "the real world" thing, though, is a load of crap. There's a common saying about "those who can, do, and those who can't, teach", which is a part of this crap. In actual fact, people who can't, often end up getting the "real" jobs while those who "can", often prefer to teach, because in that way they often end up having more impact on the "real" world.

Ever since we've stepped down from the trees and moved out into the world and transformed it, it's the intellectuals who can see a better way of doing things and go on to find a way to make it have impact in the real world, who are actually defining and widening the boundaries of the real world itself. The process of Education is not just about baby sitting, it's necessary in order to train people to use existing technology in the real world and it's necessary in order to help those talented enough to find the rock face and chip away at another layer and broaden the scope of what are the current limits of the real world.

Pretty sure FZ got past the emotion of hate at an early age.

Just in case, my use of the word hate there was ironic. I have no deeply thought out opinion about FZ and hate, except I'm pretty sure he "hated" Ronald Reagan and Warner Brothers, at the very least.
