Not today but yesterday I was doing errands with my sister, among which was to get my sickly cellphone replaced which was still insured. Upon entering Verizon I began to rummage through my pockets only to realize it had to have been left in the inner pocket of a coat I take with me to carry stuff no matter what the weather, a humid 91°F day making it impossible to wear and jeans and a pocketless T-shirt afford me only 4 pockets so I knew where the phone had to be and that meant the "carrying coat" I'd left in the car.

I never drive that car but immediately upon retrieving the cell phone I heard some woman's voice frantically yelling, "Get back here! Back here, goddamnit, and mind your own fuckin' business you fuckin' stupid idiot! I didn't realize it was some guy she was screaming at who thought it was suspicious watching me fumble with the keys and the buttons inside the door trying to lock and shut it and decided it was his duty to investigate and see if I was stealing the car or something in it! I don't know what his plans were if I'd said, "Yes, I'm stealing this fuckin' car!" or "No, I'm only swiping a few choice items out of it and leaving it once I get this fuckin' door shut and locked with these keys and the buttons inside."

What was the "fuckin', stupid idiot" going to do?

At that point my sis had come out of the store and hollered, "Hey! That's my brother locking the door to my car! Is there some problem here?" The "F.S.I." turned to my sis and said, "Don't you mean your son?" "No, I mean my brother!", she said in a very loud, growling tone. Well, Mr. "F.S.I." left and was satisfied he'd done his "duty", parting with the intentionally audible remark, "Well, I thought you were his mother."

I wonder if I had slept the night before and had been able to quickly assemble the events in my head if I'd have been less passive and more "involved" with Mr. "F.S.I.'s" sudden personal concern with my getting something from my sis's car? Probably better that I didn't!

Are you wearing a helmet during the juggling BBP?

I may have to. Earlier today I got a juggling ball in my eye.

Went to the funfair to shoot photos and see if there was anything I might like to do. Then hit the town.

Fun day, spent 50 cents on parking the bicycle.

Cheers guys. Was looking forward to announcing it here. Got ready with a bit of Lather.

Nearly got bombed by a pigeon while I was juggling. I narrowly escaped something it dropped. It was white and made a splash sound, but when I took a closer look it turned out to have a yolk.

I didn't know pigeons committed abortion and precision bombing.

If anyone made my wife's nose bleed I would end them.

Luckily we didn't have any of that. My brother got fairly drunk and cried a little bit.

I commented to the new guy in accounts that the even-newer girl in accounts is very attractive and he said that he agreed even though she "wasn't his type"
It turns out that he is Wigan!

Thanks guys! College baseball, being a sport that is not basketball or football, throws nickels around like they are manhole covers. It's quite rare to get a baseball scholarships above 50%. Usually they are much less than that. And they "adjust" them year-to-year, meaning that if a hot shit prospect comes up after you, they help "pay" for him by decreasing existing players' scholarships. That's the sad reality. If we were hoping to depend on a scholarship to fund his education, it would be a problem. Families who do depend on it drive themselves crazy.

He's a pitcher and outfielder. He's a better pitcher though. They say you gotta have some luck, and it's true. Sam took some pitching lessons with Neil Cotts, who is a pro pitcher who used to play for the Chicago White Sox and now plays for Texas, I believe. Cotts taped Sam without his knowing it, and sent copies out to some of his college and pro contacts, and one of the schools contacted Sam's high school coach about him. That's a nice guy.

Mind you, it's January. Not a single game has been played yet.....

Update on the baseball situation: My son committed to play baseball at Western Illinois University, a Division I school. He got a chunky athletic scholarship, which of course is great news to us here on the paying-for-college front.

He's a pitcher with a moderate fastball, but killer breaking stuff. Couple weeks ago he threw a slider that not only buckled the batter's knees, but sent him to the dirt fearing for his life. Strike three........

As in Wigan Pier or Stoke on Trent (rhyming slang)
