We are very happy for your kind words, thank you all. It's been quiet a ride, a timely ego focus shift, altered circadian rhythms and bliss beyond words.

As an old family friend told me, there seems to be more of a sentimental investment on the birth of a baby now than there used to be, but I hope it's on average as a live altering experience for people, as it has been for us (I guess it is, we are all humans after all)...

Mrs_Green is bravely behaving like a fighter to handle all the lack of sleep and devoted care, I help in every way I can but my vacations are soon about to end...

Birth of a child beats everything else, there is no doubt.... :D

Thought of a name beforehand? My wife and I argued for ages about names, particularly when I wanted to call our firstborn "Liverpool 1 Manchester Utd 0".

Ahaha, no we didn't do it in the Zappa tradition. I thought that for one Daughter_of_Mr_Green_Genes, Agatta would be very much appropriate (as in Adenine, Guanine, Adenine, Thymine, Thymine and Adenine). It didn't stick, though.

Congrats Mr GG!
Don't think that you do a favour to a child by giving her/him a strange name. I have a relative rare and strange first name (i was 38 years old when i first met consiously someone else with my name and it only happened a second time after that) and especially in my teenager years i sometimes was suffering from it. So better be boring in that point.
BTW what happened to me today was that i booked a 3 weeks vacation on canarian island Teneriffa for me and my mountainbike. Desperateley need it.

made a pot of coffee too late to make a pot of coffee.
Movie time now. With my love.

Well GG and Ursinator, there's the other side of the coin where people can't stand how boring their name is. As a Bonny though, I'd like to give you these tips: no duo names (if I had a dollar each time I had someone ask me where Clyde is... fortunately I never met a Clyde, that would be really awkward), keep it spellable and pronounceable (I know a Ceolsighe, lovely girl but don't ask me how to say her name), and, for the love of God, NO SONG NAMES. No Bonny, Clementine, Angie, Eloise, etc etc etc. People bursting into "My Bonny Is Over The Ocean": it has happened more times than I could count and it's NEVER the people who can sing who do that.

Went to the second-hand shop, came home with nothing. But I did find a CD by Qrio called Ashtray Sounds. The last track on it is called "Three ways to make pudding out of a cat."

That one's for my collection of titles to relish!

Oy. Picked up a shift today in fashion jewelry, an area I'm relatively familiar with. HOWEVER, one girl was sent to another dept. and another clocked out after 6:30 or 7PM. That left me alone to do the watch dept.---I have not a clue what I was doing, but took a breath and dove in. I had to call the office a few times to figure out a couple things and then said the usual thing, "I'm so sorry, but I don't usually work here, but let's try to figure this out." If someone needed their watch adjusted, I flagged down a manager while I helped another customer. It made the time go by and helped me make my quota (and then some!), but of course, just as I was about to close....here comes the last minute folk! I did enjoy waiting on one because she was cracking me up (and I was careful not to bust up). She had a total SoCal hippy chick drawl going on...Kapt. Kirk, you woulda LOOOOVED her! Cute, funky hat, long skirt slit up both sides of her body. "Oh maaaan, did someone sell my watch? Oh, babe, what am I gonna do?" she asked her boyfriend. "Oh wow! Oh mah gawd, did you just fiiiind it? Whoa!" She looked a tad stoned as well, which made it all the more humorous. Then I had to put the keys from all the registers (need to unlock a LOT of cases in one shift) in a box near the associate exit. All in all, a semi-trial by fire and I learned a few things as well. Tomorrow, a day off and hopefully I can do a few chores that need doing....like checking the air in the tires and the fluids in mi coche'.

But as far as I remember she kept on trying (and failing) to have it off with Captain Pike. And she was really ugly when the illusion wore off, so they can't be the same.

I met the woman who was the inspiration for the Beach Boys song "Fun, Fun, Fun" at a time share presentation.

kiirk was gone for fourteen days but
coulda been gone for more
held up in the intensive care ward
lyin' on the floor

kiirk was gone for all those days but
he was not all alone
he made friends with a lot of people
in the danger zone

see kapt's lonely life unfold
see it every day
see kapt's only mind explode
since he's gone away

i think kiirk lost some weight there
and i'm sure he needs some rest
sleepin' don't come very easy
in a straight white vest ...
