Hi Zappa fans,

I'm new here & I'd like to share a freshly baked Zappa-esque track with you guys,
it's not a cover of one of Zappa's works,
just a track that I hope sounds like a vibrant tribute to Zappa's genius

it was born out of a spontaneous collaboration between 2 guys who've never met each other
I live in France & Annode in the US,
I heard a track that he announced as a "Zappa-esk goof-off" on the KVR audio forum,
(where audio plug-ins & music gear are discussed)
I thought that his track was awesome,
very fresh, inspired & inspiring & very Zappa-esque indeed

(so without telling/asking him anything)
I decided to add/overdub some drums & percussions
(with a midi drumkit & a sprinkle of midi editing & some sequencing)
& then some guitar (that I played on my midi keyboard )
& I sent the resulting mix to Annode who happened to like what I did

then I added some bass (that I also played on my midi keyboard + a sprinkle (quite a lot actually ) of midi editing)
Annode liked the bass too
but we agreed that some time-keeping elements would be welcome to attenuate the allovertheplaceness of my drumming a bit,
but just a weeny bit ...
so I added some tambourine & shakers ...

I'm not here to sell anything
I just want to share the love of Zappa with this "Chris Papple Jam"

...don't quiet sure where the japanezer and the band of kitchen drummers have met the airy harp, but it's a lil bit too new-wave age-ish this earl'. Some Ozric Tentacles were involved? then i'd say it's okay. Llllol.

Hey, could sort of promise that I plan to give it so many tries till those audio-perceptive regions in that upper loft begin to swing with some of their feelers.

..ey, that wasn't rock n roll, or wo? sounded so much more ...ah, the coffee with a second helping. Some birds are up and about too. I'll speak to them.

Couldn't recall one gipsy fiddler solo a-wailing, like that a lot.

..still no mustering up some nerves for a roaring review. Just you put up another sample for good measure, and lyrics will rush and spring to the fore. Now we are nestling a bit expectantly for the encore, my words.

but from what I managed to gather reading you, you did enjoy the track
& I also deciphered some encouragements coming from you,
it's very nice & much fun reading from you : )

Unfortunately for you the only person who's bothered to reply is the forum nutcase. He has multiple personalities all of whom speak some variety of psychobabble. I've listened to Chris Papple Jam and I think it's good, I like it.

Now, it's possible you won't be back because your last post here was "Why are we moving so slow?" back in Dec 2010, but having just listened to this track I thought I should comment.

hehe, I had ticked the "Notify me when a reply is posted" box, Mr Green Genes,
& also, Polydigm manually sent me a PM notification too, which was very nice

It was great, but it was too Zappa-like. It sounded pretty much exactly like Zappa (with the exception of the beginning.) There was no Zappa-esque lol, it was exactly like Zappa. And i don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.

the drums are XLN's Addictive Drums that I played on my DTXpress II midi drumkit,
(& I should add that I recorded some bits at a slower tempo)
the percussions are from Native Instruments' Kontakt
& I used xoxos' wonderful Hyperion to program/generate the percussion parts,
the guitar is Pettinhouse's very sweet WarmJazzFREE, which I played through Line 6's PODFarm amp simulation,
the bass is Orange Tree Sample's awesome Iconic Bass: Jaco,
I played those 2 on my Line 6 TonePort KB37 midi keyboard, which is also my audio interface : )
