Hello fellow zappa fans, i have a question about my audio playback system.
Im useing a marantz Cd player cd-67se
NAD Stereo reciever 701
B&w DM#620 speakers.
Just recently i noticed some hum or static only when a song is playing. When no music is playing it is quiet. Its very low and sometimes un noticable. Though on some tracks its louder and noticable. Could anyone have any idea what this problem could be?
i woudl say i didnt blow my speakers since i dont go that loud.

Is it a HUM , as in 60 cycle hum , or Distortion , as in static ?
Both channels or one ?
Does it happen on your cd , tuner and all other inputs or ...?

More specifics are needed .

sorry, im sort of a newbie. But it is deffinatly more of a hum. I only have a cd input hooked up so i don't really know. Also if you turn the volume knob when it gets all the way around to maximum it makes a noise as you turn it.

Sounds like a bad cable ... does it do the same with the cd unplugged and the turner operating ?
