NMB was in my opinion Frank's best front man and lead singer (2nd would be Ray Collins) and I heard that Frank would audition each member of his band every year to see if they could still play for him but with one exception... NMB!
So why did NMB and Frank go seperate ways in the end? The stuff they did together was too fuckin' good, especially R&E. NMB also seems like the nicest guy who ever lived. Did he want to do other projects or did he not enjoy what Frank was doing in the late 70's/early 80's?

Thankyou.

He was member of the '84 band for a few days.

Same with me when he was with The Grand Mothers of Invention last Sept. in Oakland. He ain't no Roy Estrada that's fer sure! Trendy thinks he's worse than RE because of some slight on Dweezil. But the guy works hard on playin' music and it's shows. They were great and he really is a nice cat. :D
I don't think anyone really knows the truth about that arrest. Remember it's an arrest, not a conviction.
Does anyone know what the outcome of that arrest was though? :?:

Was he ever proved guilty? A man is innocent until proven otherwise. I don't know what was the case and I don't condone with rape, but, at least hypothetically, it could be the case of blackmail and/or abuse by the alleged victim after consenting to have relations.

I've not seen it confirmed in an interview but I believe FZ had issues with NMB's drug taking.

Heaven forbid, NMB's voice had really started to go during the Bongo Fury tour and of course in 1984 he just wasn't at his Roxy/Elsewhere/Helsinki self anymore. I guess doing too much drugs can fuck up one's voice.

NMB has mainly played tenor sax and flute. But in 1984 he also played alto and baritone saxophones (the latter instrument can be heard doubling the main guitar riff on "Dumb All Over" if you listen to the July '84 tapes).

1) You have to have been convicted to be on Megans List

2) He played with ZPZ on the first tour and sounded as good as anything he did on any release with FZ

3) He left ZPZ over monet, this is a recuring theme with players back as far as FZ and the original mothers, if you don't get paid what you think your worth you move on.

If he is guilty, may he pay prison time for it...

Apparently it was a while ago and he paid the price whatever it was, but now days you can not escape a sex crime charge since you go on the list, he's no spring chicken in the picture, but he looks much older now... :smoke:

BTW he deffinately has the "I fucked up!" look on his face...

Well holy shit, never realized that ever happened! I didn't know he had a drug habit. I knew Frank had issues with people doing in drugs due to the idea of them going to prison.
But I guess that's it then, took drugs and they just went their different ways.

But to me the Roxy band seemed perfect and I think it is crazy that Frank didn't try to keep them as long as humanely possible.
