One that buys 6 copies of every ZFT release and does not dare mention the "Z" word in open spaces.

Hi,

Actually, that would be an oxymoron, given that a true fan appreciates the music and does not ask for one thing only!

I think I'm getting really tired of the supposed tapes from the Roxy that had all the naked girls dancing that th eCD didn't show or play!

Here's how to tell if you're a True Zappa Fan:

1. You drive a '39 Chevy and have a Pachuco cross

2. You hired a semi-professional boxer to break your nose, so you'd look more like Rondo Hatton

3. You led an expedition into the deepest, darkest San Gabriels in order to find Billy The Mountain

3. You set up a Google alert so you can stay up-to-date on all the Michael Kenyon news

4. You have a spare room in your house, dedicated to displaying your massive collection of cannister vacuums

5. You spend your weekends trolling garage sales, in your never-ending search for the perfect portly, maroon sofa

6. You're breeding a dwarf

7. You insist that your nieces and nephews refer to you as Uncle Meat

8. For your last vacation, you sat outside terminal 3 at LAX, just listening to the White Zone announcement

9. You named your cat The Dangerous Kitten

10. If the gravy isn't lumpy enough, you send it back

The ultimate Zappa fan is Trendmonger. He's known as Gary in DZW. He's spewing his usual line of loyalty and undying devotion to all things Zappa in the group called "The Meeting Place," in case you're sick in the head and miss his garbled prose stylings. He thinks the streamlined version of ZPZ is the next phase in the glorious evolution of Zappalingus. I don't.

Frank Zappa, Saw him live 15 times between 80 - 88. The Buffalo cd concert was my first Frank Show !
No, I don't buy every release. Close, but not all. I will not buy any of the old cattlelog being re released. Buffalo, and Philly.... complete concerts, those are the type of release I would buy in a heartbeat. Although I was a little disappointed in the quality of OZ. Beat the Boots was a ripoff. They should have been official recordings. Hell, I already had the boots.

dz, saw live 8 times or so. I won't go no mo !
Return of the son of.... was, and will be the last thing I purchase from dz.

I am a Frank fan, not a dz fan.

I should have said FZ.When I say Zappa,I always mean Frank.

How about the Grand Mothers,P/O,Pojama People,For The Love Of Frank with IW? Seen any FZ cover bands or alumni? Would you if you could?

I saw P/O quite a while back with Ike and Ed as the only alum. I wasn't all that impressed. It was great to hear Franks music played live though.
Band from Utopia was probably the best. Needed a better guitar player though.
I catch Vai every chance I get.

I try and catch Adrian Belew if he's close by and plan on seeing the Grand Mothers next month.I've always enjoyed NMB when he was FZ's frontman and Don Preston has always been the greatest as a Mother-musician.PIB sez it was a great show in Chicago,so I will see for myself. 8)
So you haven't heard any of Franks orchestrated preformances' like Ensemble Modern did or Ed Palermo's big band live?

A true Zappa fan will tell you the exact albums and songs in which these folks played: Don Brewer, Ron Selico, Davey Moire, Emil Richards, Tina Turner, Craig Steward, Michael Rappaport, David Samuels, Eric Clapton, Jay Anderson, Nelcy Walker, Brad Cole, Janet Ferguson, Joel Peskin, Moon Zappa, Tony Duran, Eric Buxton, Kin Vassy, Bird Legs, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, Martin Lickert, etc.

Also, speaking of ZPZ (which I do enjoy). I have a little problem with DZ's logic about trying to mimic the exact sounds from the original records. He does a great job at emulating guitar tones and instrumentation, but on the very first tour, what the hell was Steve Vai doing there? Mind you, great guitarist, but they didn't play any material from '80 to '82, the period when he was in FZ's band. I don't get it.
