That's cool that Brubeck shows Zappa some respect. I just wrote on another thread that I never heard FZ mention Brubeck in an interview. FZ obviously had to be aware of Brubeck and some of their music seems similar in some regards. I wonder if FZ was influenced by Brubeck (acknowledged or not).

Brubeck..........bless him
we'll miss him.

His thoughts on Frank make sense.....
Brubeck seemed pretty "safe" pretty "straight"
How could he even "get" what Zappa and the Mothers were all about?

I'm sure not many did.

Unusual time signatures is what they had in common and I think Brubeck was considered pretty hip in the '50's.
