So recently it seems I have been to a fairly high amount of funerals, especially for my tender age.
Most have been 'Humanist' ceremonies that are fairly short (30-45 minutes) at a crematorium.
Whenever people go to funerals I sense they always think about how they would like theirs in regards to music, readings and other bits that make up the service. Which is what I keep doing, even though it doesn't matter because I'll be dead or in hell.
All these funerals usually have three key pieces of music. One on entering, one in the middle for reflection (the most important), then the exiting music.

So Zappaphiles, what would you like played at your funeral? I'm mainly interested in the time of reflection song. The period where people will not be distracted, sit in their own silence whilst it plays.

For me it would be 'What's New In Baltimore?' as one it is a favorite of mine but also it is just beautiful. The guitar work and the life is just oozes is almost how I hope to be remembered. The ending of the song reminds me of leaving a place you love and a great journey coming to an end.

Its a fire - portishead.
This one kills me - which would sort of help setting up a funeral...

There's many songs on my potential list: for the refection I'm thinking of Varèse - Nocturnal. To give everybody nightmares.

With my luck, it'll probably be 4'33".

Post Script: I am not a funeral song, as this topic's heading suggests.

Haha. I almost said something.
By the way: he didn't call you "a" funeral song. he called you "funeral song".

Just sayin'.

Well, if you had, we wouldn't have heard you, anyway. Kind of like 4'33".

He said Fuck 'em all, Brown Shoes Don't Make It,
which has absolutely nothing to do with cyber volume, but whatever.

I didn't even realize I did that. This is why I shouldn't make threads when I'm super tired.

Some interesting choices. Brown shoes would be hilarious. My wife wants Gimme That Nutt by Eazy-E just to make everyone feel super awkward.

That's great.

Another one I would choose for my own would be:

Terri had Sade "Love is Stronger Than Pride" which was excellent with her slide show and also went well with my eulogy... :D

Of course we are all asshole sarcastic pricks so we want something that blows minds, I always thought playing Thing Fish in its entirety would be awesome...if only I could be there to see them leave one by one and who would last the longest... :smoke:

The one time someone wants to know what song I want to have played and I'm dead. That sounds about right.

Second time. That Chuck Prophet song was a great recommendation! (I guess you weren't here to enjoy it though...)

Holiday In Berlin, Full Blown is untouchable. But I could have too:

Questi Cazzi Di Piccione
None Of The Above
Reagan At Bitburg
Shh/Peaceful
Aybe Sea
Oh No
Prelude To The Afternoon Of A Sexually Aroused Gas Mask

The Yellow Shark's got some great sad music in it.

I never want to listen to that ever again. It really is true shit. Makes the penalty tracks sound like Hot Rats.
