I never heard his music, but these seem really interesting production ideas. Very nice to see innovative record producers in the vein of you know who...

I just purchased this record today and can say it certainly lives up to the hype. Jack White is a production genius. I'm surprised FZ never experimented with locked or dual grooves, that I know of anyway.

Probably due to the cost. With the amount of LPs Frank was churning out, it would've cost him a fortune and would make Barking Pumpkin less profitable. We therefore might've not been able to hear any orchestral works, who knows?

That is certainly possible. I also wonder if he found the idea to be somewhat "gimicky" and unnecessary, as The Beatles are one of the most well known users of the locked groove on an LP (certain versions of Sgt. Pepper) and we all know how FZ felt about their merchandizing tactics.

Don't fergit "The Monty Python Matching Tie and Handkerchief Set". One side is double grooved, so you can play it twice, and it's something completely different. (and, it doesn't mention that on the cover, some buyers got quite confused).
