It's [glow=red,2,300]Journey to the 7th Planet[/glow]. It came out in 1962, and I waited in line 4 hours to see it, at the tender impressionable age of 10. It's about a journey to Uranus (yours, not mine), where the astronauts encounter a big sponge like creature that looks like this:

This rubbery creep has the ability to appear to these guys as their most intimate fantasies, which of course consist of women with bee-hives and skirts almost up to the KNEES. :o Like this:

Then, when the men get "close" to the women, this sponge bob thing sucks them up and absorbs them into it's porous being.

I can't remember the end, but it scared me to death. Looking at it now, it's hard to believe that anyone, at any time, could ever be scared of that sponge. Creepy scarey![/quote]

Thanks for the recommendations! I will definately rent some of these very soon.

BTW, although not a sci-fi movie, my current favorite "cheep" movie is "Danger: Diabolik" - It is a Mario Bava pic from '69 based on an Italian comic book. It has plot holes and bad dialogue, but it is visually impressive and Ennio Morricone did the music. It's still pretty cheep, though.
