I read the Sunday comics all the time, and I like the comic "Mutts" in perticular. I was suprised one morning to see that the title panel of the comic was a parody of the Ruben and the Jets album cover (except with the Mutts characters faces in place with the orginal faces). Then once while I was in a bookstore I saw a Mutts book with other Zappa title panel parodies: Chunga's Revenge, the back cover of Studio Tan, and I even saw one for parodying (if that's the word) Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica as well. I tried to find some more but had no luck. Has anyone seen any others?

Re Zliq: What he said!!!!

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I love Mutts--I love how the cat pronounces the letter "S" as "Sh"--as in "Little pink shock". :) I've always enjoyed mispronouncing S's that way, and then when I read the strip for the first few times, there it was! I liked Mutts right away! He also does very many other pop culture and fine art parodies---including a recent Sunday comic for the old children's book, Are You My Mother? One of my faves(Next to Go, Dog, Go!).......Yay Mutts!!!!! :D ;D :D ;D

Love Mutts. I have several t shirts with the dog and cat. They remind me of Krazy Kat for one thing and he has done several obvious tributes to Capt Beefheart and Frank. I think I have the pics on my machine at home. I'll post them later.

No, that's one of the main characters. The names are suspicious tho

BTW can anyone kindly re-post those images related to Zappa?

Creator McDonnell was in a band (with Joe Coleman) called Steel Tips.
This youtube link seems to be a stolen Beefheart riff of sorts. Anyone remember their infamous Uncle Floyd show appearance?
