"Crying" by Yngwie Malmsteen off the Trilogy album. Great Ballad.

Very helpful. I'm definately going to check out that EP. The grandoise production of alot of these balads is turning me off. I just love to hear the guitar fly into outer space over the backbone rhythm section.

this is a great thread.

brian setzer's cover of "sleepwalk" is amazing.

"a tear for eddie" by ween has been often compared to "watermelon in easter hay." i'll admit, the guitar work isn't nearly as good, but it's still a great song.

it has vocals, but "and so i know" by stone temple pilots has my favorite non-zappa guitar solo of all time. very smooth and beautiful. impressive but not show-off-ey.

"lincoln highway dub" by sublime. it's the original instrumental version of "santeria" which has some great smooth guitar.
