Did you know that I saw Killing Joke live in some kind of tent at a parking lot in the English town Dunstable in the summer of 1983?

What on Earth were you doing in Dunstable, besides seeing KJ?!

Did you like the experience?

They were my first live band experience, in 1985, and it utterly transformed my outlook. Totally profound. When this lot are on form it is truly awesome.

Any other Killing Joke fans out there?
Maybe about as far away from Zappa, superficially, as you could get, but under the surface a lot in common...

I was travelling around Europe on an interrail ticket with a friend, and we had gone to London to see bands live. But it turned out that the concert season was very low in July, so about the only thing we got to see was a strange band of amateurs called 1000 Mexicans in a seedy little club filled to the capacity of 50 punters... When we found out that there was some kind of festival in Dunstable, with Killing Joke as headliner, we had to go... I don't remember if that was before or after the unpleasant experience with the Lebanese youth hostel manager and the drunk and disorderly/Chelsea police station jail incident... Anyway, apart from a horrible venue in a parking lot and local beer-guzzling hoodlums, the show was pretty good, although I guess the band was in an intermediate phaze between the early postpunk and the later metal incarnation. My only KJ record to date is the Change/Requiem 12", which I love - the concert in Dunstable was a bit more polished than that... Perhaps I should check them out again...

Killing Joke's last two albums have been a real return to form!

Probably the same as up Joan Crawford's: "Fleets of ships, light aircraft, hamburger stands.... - but no fucking hamburgers, just the fucking stands... The only single entertainment they got up there is a Disco... But there's no water up Joan Crawford so they filled it full of shit." (Courtesy of "Derek And Clive", "Come Again"). I should know- they're up my cunt as a well...
