You should spend more time on your music because the youth of America is depending on you to show the way.

I'm not sure that this piece by Jimmy Webb was designed to be "meaningful" any more than it was to make some serious fun at some music (or musicals) that took themselves way too seriously.

I it was sung in the grand old style of Edith Piaf, Gilbert Because and the grand singers of strength and song ... which I thought was hilarious and off the rocker.

Hearing it today, of course, is kinda ... sappy, sad, weird, off the wall, stupid ... and all the other words that we look at about those days ... when we can add, things like, stoned, crazy, drunk ... and a few other details.

Remember "Winchester Cathedral"? ... same thing ...

I would actually like to do a punk version of McArthur's Park ... the idea of Sid or Rotten screaming this one out, is very appealing ... and funny ... and you and I would sit back and laugh our heads off. Of course, I think that many of us would like to see Flo and Eddie do this one ... in drag! ... now that would be a real riot for us all!

There are other ... famous "bad lyrics" and a lot of them have to do with the fact that we do not know what they are about, or what they refer to ... and we're not sure if the writer is trying to send us left to drop off the hill or if they are trying to say ... wake up ... and learn something or other.

No one here, I don't think, can make sense of "The Soft Parade" ... for example, and while none of us is really going to say that these are bad lyrics, the fact remains ... that is really weird ... and ... what is going on here is always the first thing you say ... and of course, this is not the only piece by The Doors that you and I ... scratch our heads on ... as to what does the imagery stand up for.

I always thought, that Frank did not like that "supposed" meaningful imagery from the psychedelia thing that everyone thought was so cool, and he made fun of it ... more than once, and showed that you did not have to be stoned, to do a movie so stoned that no one, even many of us here, can handle it or deal with it ... 200 Motels -- the ultimate psychedelic thing ever done! But saying that some of the lyrics there are better than McArthur Park, or worse, is a bit off key as well ... let's talk about dental higyene, or pennis dimention ... or donovan's ...
