Any recommendations? I am giving a pal the Hagstrom Swede I won at a ZPZ concert for his birthday. But I want to make him learn a Zappa song to play when he gets it, even though its a surprise. He's a pretty good musician but more of a rhythm guitar player. Decent singer too.

If you were a real friend you'd learn Moggio! :)

I like downer's suggestion, also Hungry Freaks, Daddy, isn't too hard.

Joe's Garage would probably be the easiest and most anthemic tune to do.

Camarillo Brillo is easy to strum. Another good easy one for guitar is Magic Fingers.

I (try to) play Magic Fingers all the time. The main riff is basically a common pentatonic minor picking exercise.

'Ugliest part' is only about 35 seconds long though. Unless you do the reprise too...

I'm not sure what you mean. The bass line is

(G) (D B G) (E) (B G E) (C) (C A C) (D) (D E F#) repeat

which just follows the notes of the standard turn around of G, Em, C and D.

In the non overdubbed version I can't make out chords, but the guitar riff lands on A over the C major chord giving the sixth sound.

G--------Em-----C------D-------G----
(- - - E) * (D E D E) (A - - E) (D E D E) (G - E) repeat from *

In the non overdubbed reprise the chords are roughly G, Em, C 6 and D sus 2.

In the instrumental version there's a piano playing what sounds like a G major over G, E then C bass and then D major over the D bass.

Maybe C/G would fit somewhere but I don't think it's being used.

Why do you call it the Beatles chord? It was around in music a long time before they came along.

I said Thumb not too complicate things that G is root note,i've seen it called C/G on occasions G/C,dont after be Thumb either.
WOIFTM version i was going for,i think the Chord fits FZ voice part.
Call it the Beatles Chord because of the Song Something sounds shit without it being used.
Come too think of it so does Space Oddity.
What other songs use it,time for a New Topic
