Wow, things change. King Crimson are easily my favourite prog band now. Admittedly, around the time this thread was started, I was buying up KC albums after not having had them for a long time. I now have all the main ones and I listen to them more often than PF now.

I think Hendrix was more progressive than Floyd..listen to his jazzy out-there soloing on the Woodstock double CD

I think it was just called Jimi live at Woodstock..a 2 CD set of everything he did at Woodstock
(it's stashed away at the moment in the 'big pile o'crates 'so I can't check.)
Some of the solos are like nothing you've ever heard Jimi do..like real jazz fusion chops

EDIT: I just pulled it out "Jimi Hendrix Live at Woodstock"
I can't find the solo though...mebbe it was on the double "Live at the Fillmore"
I'll post back when I find the track

All this talk of king crimson, not a band i've listened to so thanks to the valued recomendations of you all, (you know who you are) I'm about to jump on the grooveshark for a taste.

Floyd fan for years, saw the david gilmour version, on the momentary lapse of reason tour, and the roger waters version on the dark side of the moon tour, and have tickets to the wall tour this coming february.......

Best of luck to you. Fripp has been fighting to get KC's stuff off Grooveshark for months. As fast as he gets them taken down, they pop up again. Something about a lack of compensation. (Any similarity to this and Gail Zappa is purely coincidental. Really!)

Doug I just back from grooveshark, only a couple of songs there, moon child and 21st century, still I think I get the picture, well worth further investigation.
