This concert is one of my faves, Ralph Humphrey tears it up on the drums. This incarnation of the MOI is woefully underrepresented in the official Zappa catalog.

ZFT: hint, hint...

An amazing performance with a great band indeed... If only Sal Marquez was there to be the cherry on the top, hum... (hum... cheeery).

It is the source of BTB's Pinquantique...

This is fantastic! It's always been a pleasure in boots in hearing Frank trying to sing things he obviously...well, can't really pull off. Like the 'Yippie tye yo tye yay!' bit...but it's still funny. The greatest time he was ever over his head was when he tried singing The Idiot Bastard Son on a Palladium Halloween concert...that was fun.

I also have to say I was surprised at all the..movement he made during his solo. The only other tape of Zappa I've ever seen soloing is the DHBIM tape, and I was very impressed with the minimal movement that he did during his soloing there. He was very focused, with the body movements only being neccessary to keep feeling the 'groove'..here, he looks like he's threatening to break dance! :P Still, it's all good.

I guess he is moving so much because he would otherwise be freezing to death. :D

Well, it is such a great show. Great solos from everyone!

Because you transfer economic resources towards illegal activities.

Some people who has a degree of morality left actually find this a bad thing to do. Also, morality aside, people who think that people should be paid according to the value of what they actually produce, and not what they steal, they tend to think it is a bad thing in general.

But of course, what you do personally doesn't affect the whole industry at all, so why should we bother? Because things get screwed up when a LOT do what you do! That is why societies have laws.

Oh man thanks HJ I read his reply and got pissed, he's no TRUE Zappa fan. I was gonna rip him apart...but you did it a much more nicer way. Kudos.!

Nice! Ponty band is among my fave FZ touring bands. There's a YouTube from the same show with the band playing "Cosmik Debris", my favorite version. Has great bass clarinet, keys and guitar solos. Love it.

I don't see what everyone's problem with someone buying a bootleg is. Put it this way, if official sources aren't coming up with the goods, why not get it somewhere else?

This is the "Oppapoppa" concert. My favorite line-up. I really love the final part of "Farther O'Blivion", when Frank imposes to repeat it because of the "too many wrong notes". Simply fantastic.
I had the huge chance to see that same band in Rome some days after. They were fantastic, it was the first time I saw a concert of Frank Zappa.
I remember that Frank had the nerve to begin the Rome concert with "Eric Dolphy's Memorial Barbecue".

I think that the Stockholm footage is still there, maybe just the links at the topic opening post aren't woikin' anymore. Search Zappa 1973 in YouTube or Zappa Stockholm and the stuff should be there.
