i have it on vhs and bootleg dvd. the only reason i bought the dvd was bc i found it in a store, and i don't want to mess up the tape, bc it is over 20 years old. i also have it on my dvr too, which is WAY easier! :D

as far as the boot quality- its a B. there's some hesitation every now and then which i think is from the chapters or layers. i also don't like how its full screen. but if you can watch the tape, you can watch this. i believe its a direct copy from the tape.

what sucks is that they erased ALL the original film, so there's no chance of extra scenes, or behind the scene shots. hopefully they can clean it up some and release it on a new spiffy dvd!

I really would like to have this on a remastered DVD. I followed the link to play.com. One of the reviewers mentioned that "200 Motels" is scheduled for DVD release sometime in 2009. Can anyone confirm this?

I hope it's true. It's one of my all-time favorite movies.

Much more satisfying!

I'm pretty sure the original aspect ratio was full screen 4:3 and they had to crop the image for its theatrical run. So actually, full screen would be the purest way to see it. I'd really like to see this on DVD, but I also have a feeling that it's simply not going to look very good given the source material.

Just like several other movies in the 60's (including "Help!" and "A Hard Day's Night"), the aspect ratio is not what we consider full-screen or wide-screen by today's standards. What they did on the DVD's of those two movies, was work with the aspect ratio to make it wide-screen. That's probably what they would do with 200 Motels. I'm cool with that, since "Help!" and "A Hard Day's Night" look good in wide-screen.

We absolutely need Scavenger Hunt on DVD before this lousy movie.
